Kirtland was simply too much for Coldwater. Congratulations Kirtland Hornets on a State championship.

If you really believe that then you're not too bright. They might not care as much but even 2 runner up trophies is a nice accomplishment. Coldwater was beaten by ML and Minster this year, and almost by DSJ. This is not one of CW's best squads. Their offense was their Achilles heel.

Did Kirtland have a competitive game all year? Seems like they blew out everyone.

Pretty competitive game all day. Kirtland's running game just wore out the Cav's in the late 3rd and 4th. CW definitely game Kirtland a better game than their semi-final opponent. Maybe Kirtland was just that good???

Oh and little side note. CW has 15 starters returning, including their QB and top 2 receivers.

I didn't really see this game as a blow out. Most blowouts are not 14-7 late in the 3rd.

Coldwater was a perplexing team to watch yesterday. Seemed they were always looking for that big play beyond 15 yards when Kirtland was actually giving them a lot underneath that 15 yard range and their defense got worn out. Seemed like they made no adjustments at halftime. Kirtland was definitely the best team, no doubt about that.

GoJPM....CW has been a big play offense all year and had been very successful going deep. The biggest difference is that in this game they missed a couple of the opps that they normally make. Also, with Kirtland controlling the ball it kept the amount of plays the Cavs ran down big time.

A couple of guys behind me were talking about some of those play calls like on 4th down but they dont realize many of those were money all season long.

I wasnt surprised by the outcome. CW tends to have problems with power running teams. Just has been the case for a number of years now. This wasnt teh first time Kirtland has done this to a team this year. CW has some good defensive coaches, but there are times when you are geting manhandeled on the line there isnt a whole lot you can do. If it was a great passing attack they were facing then you can change things up with blitzes, coverages and such. CW held Mauk to I think 215 yards passing on 28 completions I believe in week one. There are ways to really scheme for a wide open attack, and CWs speed usually helps...but when the other team can just line up, smash ya in the face it is pretty dificult to defend.

Coach Reed was a master of when to run the trick play. I thought the trick play ran in the finals was just way too early, and to the short side of the field. It was almost like coach otten was in a hurry to run that play. A few screens, pop passes to the WR and then run that later on and it works. BUt anyways....it wasnt like in the past where we walked away from getting beat by The U where ya felt there was noway CW was gonna win. I thikn in a series CW can beat Kirtland but the Hornets would win the series.
