Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith doesn't know if the NCAA may still prevent the Buckeyes from going to a bowl game this season. But if allowed, the school intends to go.
Expect us to go bowling.

I never understood this idea. Let the seniors have one more game and get some free shit. Where ever OSU goes there is going to be fans there so it why not? It really makes the team and program look like ass holes when they turn a bowl down IMO.

OSU announced today that they would accept a Bowl bid if one is offered.

Simple "in my opinion" answer: No 6-6 team deserves to go to a bowl. However, since there are a million bowls, going 6-6 just about anywhere besides the MAC and Sun Belt will get you an automatic invite. If a team is 6-6 and gets an invite, they should take it. Especially when said team is young and would be better served by MORE field time and not by turning down a bid for one random reason or another.

It is all about the free stuff the kids get and the one more chance to play together. Why Not?

The NCAA will look at having to go to Detroit as punishment enough.

Plus, if it is the one in Detroit, a whole lotta OSU fans who have never been to a bowl game will jump at the chance for tickets.

I'm quite sure Meyer would rather sit out this bowl as opposed to the bowl game next year. The reason Michigan fans want OSU to go bowling this year is the negative recruiting that Hoke could use.

I'm sure it's been said but you play in a game just for the extra practices.

Read on scout.com (I think), they will decline a bowl invitation. They lose their last four, it's been a bad season. Maybe they should sit it out and get ready for next year with the new coaching regime. Don't think they have earned the right to go to a bowl. This team is a mess right now and needs to be re-tooled. Not sure their minds are in the right place. I know it's not the popular train of thought here but it's how I feel.

It really isn't up to what we think! The Buckeye's will not consult any of us on this decision! lol
As a senior I would like to go to a Bowl game and enjoy the perks!

An extra month of practice would do a lot more to get them ready for next year than sitting out, regardless of what happens in the bowl game itself.

I know it's not up to us to decide but the report is saying they will decline a bowl invitation. An extra month with a lame duck staff, we shall see how well that works.

I don't think going to a bowl game will hurt OSU negatively at all as long as Meyer is the coach next season.

The school said officially this past week that any bowl bid will be accepted.

Yes, I know but there is speculation to the contrary now. The problem is there are so many bowls and not enough good teams to fill them. Is OSU a good team? Bowls used to be a reward for a team having a good season. Not the case any longer.

Word from Gene Smith's mouth > some speculation you think you read on scout (likely from a poster on the message boards and not an actual article).

If OSU is offered a bowl there is a 0.0% chance that they turn it down.

In other news (from a real source), the president of the Gator Bowl has said publicly that he wants a Florida-OSU match up in Jacksonville on January 2. No chance OSU turns down a Gator Bowl invite.

They accept because they need the extra 15 practices, and I'd like to see a rematch with Florida (^^^)--as long as we're guaranteed a "W"

Are teams really only allowed 15 practices between the end of their season and the bowl game?

Not at all. They've paid for their crime. Not reason to kick 'em in the nuts anymore.

Who's going to coach the team,i mean if they hire Meyer today,Coach Fickell may bend over and say kiss my white ass, then they'll get Bollman to coach the bowl game, that would make everybody happy.lol

You accept because you don't "domer" the lesser bowls by showing you think you're too good to be associated with them.
