Houston Astros moving to the AL.

Additional 2 team will be given wildcards making it more like the NFL in which a third of the league makes the playoffs.

Wish the Brewers had moved back to the AL.

Interesting that the wildcard teams will just play a 1 game, winner moves on, series.

It should be at least a best of 3. What a joke.

All season baseball is played in series'. Why on earth is the WC game going to be a 1 game event? Thats dumb. Best of 3 is the clear way to go here, imo.

All MLB wants is more teams to be in the race for more of the season so attendance won't drop off as quickly.

Which is why I really do like the added WC team. But make it a 3 game series.

I agree that it should be a 3 game wild card series, but under the current set-up the World Series almost goes into November as it is. The only solution would be to shorten the regular season, which we all know will never happen.

Yeah I like it too, but I don't think Selig has any interest in extending the playoffs more than one more game. If he can have 4 or 5 teams in each league play 2 more weeks worth of meaningful regular season games, he will ($$$$$$$$$$$). I agree it should be a 3 game series but I don't really think that is the motivation for adding a team.

Or start the season a week earlier.

Wish they'd add a salary cap as well.

You'd really be sad if baseball was locked out and they didn't play? Couldn't care less about baseball. Way too boring and without salary caps it's the same teams every year. Also, the all star game having an impact is retarded

Would miss baseball in the summer. No other sport is playing and enjoy a cold one on a summer's day at the ballpark.

As far as starting the season a week earlier, it's bad enough now the first week of April. Can't imagine starting the last week of March in places like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Boston, Minn. etc.

2010: Yankees, Twins, Rangers, Rays, Phillies, Braves, Reds, Giants
2011: Yankees, Rays, Tigers, Rangers, Phillies, Brewers, Cardinals, Diamondbacks

50% turnover in one year.

Have they said if this will be end of unbalanced scheduling? When they originally talked about evening out the leagues 15/15, there was also talk of blowing up the divisions and just taking the 5 best teams. Since Houston will go to the AL West, apparently they aren't blowing up divisions... but going back to balanced schedules would at least take such a heavy emphasis off of the divisions.

Also, 15/15 means that interleague will have to be spread throughout the season, as it basically forces one series to be interleague at all times, correct?

Correct. There will always be an interleague matchup throughout the year involving someone. Heck, could have the season open with Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

If a lockout brought a salary cap, I would be all for it.

Anybody know when baseball will negotiate their new CBA? Do they even negotiate? I feel like the owners just get bent over be the players union every day all day long.

MLB came to a labor agreement today. The current deal was set to expire at the end of December (I think). Formal announcement will be made Monday.

I don't like many of these changes. The Wild Card game should not come down to a 1 game playoff to determine it all; seems like such cruel fate when you've been battling for 162 all year to get to that point.

Also not a fan of the balanced leagues because it means interleague play is going to be dispersed all the way throughout. I definately don't want to see my team in the race in September and see its fate being decided by interleague games being played in San Diego or Miami than in Boston or Tampa Bay...

+1. baseball will continue to be a joke as long as the yankees can spend 300 million a year on payroll while the lower markets pay 40 million.

^^^

Don't know why this continues to be an issue. Somebody proves it every year, a large payroll doesn't always add up to victories. Look at what Tampa Bay has been able to do and Florida, Minnesota, and Oakland before them
