If he can have four or five teams in each league play a meaningful regular-season two weeks, he will. I agree it should be a series of three games, but I really do not think this is the motivation to join a team.

Gives teams a reason to play for the division crown rather than knowing you get an equal chance at the playoffs by backing in with a wildcard spot. If we can settle a tie with a one-game, we can settle the wild card with one game. We also will get rid of the horrible 'two division teams can't play each other in the first round' crap.

A cruel fate? These are teams that weren't going to make the playoffs and now they have a shot.

Will it really get rid of #1 seed not playing a team in its own division first? Or will they still wait to see who wins before determining the match-ups?
