I thought Margaritaville in Negril was overrated. Not many people there and very overpriced. If your hotel isn't too far I'm sure you could walk so it couldn't hurt to check it out. Our trip got pushed back a few due to a tropical storm the previous week so my guess is a lot of people cancelled/changed their trip. For mid-July I thought the entire place was rather slow.
