He went to Orrville tonight as a Smithie and put up some great numbers as the Smithville Quarterback and help beat Orrville 44-20 for his freshman team. His name is Noah Schonover. He is the real deal and is just waiting for Coach Davault to show some interest to come to Orrville. Its not like he lives in Smithville he lives in Orrville and is wanting to get a chance to be the Orrville QB! Tonight he had 175 yards rushing and 115 yards passing. He had two rushing TD's and one of those was 70 yards, two passing TD's, three 2 point conversion throws and an 80 yard kickoff return totaling almost 400 yds of total offense. This kid is ready to play at the next level NOW! He is #10 for Smithville and would look great in the Orrville uniform. Someone get coach on the phone and come and get this kid to play in the town he lives in!!!
Interesting you say letting him play at smithville, last I knew with open enrollment it would be the student and their parents choice.
If I had a dollar for every kid called the "real deal" I would have retired by now.
If he is ready, why isn't he playing varsity for Smithville.
(I am not saying the kid is not good, I really don't know, just laugh at comments like that when they are made about young players)

From reading a lot of comments on here and talking to some Orrville people, my understanding is that the Orrville program as far as talent, from 7th grade up to at least the 10th grade is down. As far as Smithville, from a very reliable source, is that their 7th grade up thru their freshmen teams have a good deal of talent. I understand as well a totally different league, the WCL is not even close to the OCC. So I guess if the kid wants to play for Smithville because maybe he feels when he gets up to his varsity years he wants to win and make the playoffs? (Please understand I am just guessing their).
My two cents, records for teams in their 7th, 8th, and freshman year usually do not correlate with varsity. Single class teams are just that, varsity is where you blend those classes and many times have a totally different outcome. Clearfork junior class were very tough their 7th and 8th grade year winning the OCC both years I believe, but it doesn't seem to have correlated with their varsity outcomes this year.
I also wanted to say I am disappointed by all the grim reapers around here. Orville has one bad year and most are calling for the coach, talking how down the whole program is, talking about leaving the conference. I think you guys are better than that. One season does not define a program or a tradition. As far as th OCC, I hope Orville stays, but if not, find a league West Holmes can go with you to.
