How do you qualify a statement about teams that "don't belong"?RedRider1;1310798 wrote:...Lots of teams who don't belong. All in the name of $$ for the OHSAA.
When you get down to it, isn't it all about money anyway?

That's how I qualify it....with stats.
Disagree? No problem. But theres blowouts like this every year.
24 games this weekend between 1/8 seeds.....Only two #8 seeds won.
In d4,5,6...no #8 seeds won...three #7 seeds won (one of those being Ursuline).[/QUOTE
Those scores can happen regardless-you will see some of those next week too-the fact that any 7 or8 seeds won justify 8 teams getting in period! Just ask Marlington

It would appear that rr1 missed some "stats" that may indicate there were some close and competitive games. You never know, one of those #8 seeds might win the state title.riders1;1311878 wrote:...Only 4 regions of 24 had all 4 top seeds win in the first round....27 games were within 7 points, a few 8 points and at least 4 or 5, 10 points or under. It is still probably a greater percentage of competitive games than basketball sectional games.
Man Series...you follow me around like a lost kitty. I'm flattered.Series62;1312953 wrote:It would appear that rr1 missed some "stats" that may indicate there were some close and competitive games. You never know, one of those #8 seeds might win the state title.
I think you would've been happy to see Orrville participate in one of those "scrimmages"!
OHIO STATE PLAYOFFS!!! meaning EVERY team gets in and we play a state wide bracket!!! YES!!! That would make football season last almost the entire school year! I'M IN!!!! Beats sitting around waiting for the finals in the NCAA or waiting until the NFL gets interesting (playoffs)...Just saying it's a trend....back in 1980 when we made our first appearance, it was 2 teams per region....then in the mid 80's it was 4 per region and now it's 8. What's next....16? If more teams is better, why not let everyone in?

Last year's state finalists were all 1 & 2 seeds....Norwayne was a 3, Mooney was a 4 and Coldwater was a 5.
The good teams typically rise to the top....we see it year in and year out. Does the annual upset occur? Sure. Does a 6, 7 or 8 seed play for a state title? Not typically.

That's the exception...not the rule. They're a D-5 school that plays a D-1 schedule. 4-5 wins is all they need to make it in.Red Rider Nation;1313412 wrote:Ursuline will win a title this year and are what a 7 or 8 seed? It can and will happen
Just curios have you been to any of the Volley Ball games? For the most part the kids leading the student body, are your Junior football players, not taking anything away from the seniors this year, they are extremely hard working from what I hear, but I think this junior class seems to be a little bit more in your face type personality’s. Someone made the comment a couple pages back about electing captains early to give some of these kids some legitimacy early on to get the slackers more involved, someone closer to the program answer this, they don’t do this already (elect captains ), or do they wait until two a day’s start?sanitizer;1313038 wrote:Sounds like some of you need to go behind the woodshed! LOL, me and Old Rider could ref! This off season will and should say a lot about these kids and where their heads are. Looking for some leadership EARLY!!! Be about being a rider baby!
I have not been to any of the games but if what you are saying is true, it gives me hope. The captains were decided early when I was in school. Before summer that's for sure. I have "heard" the same thing about that Jr. class and I hope this holds true. This team seems to really need some "in the locker room" leadership.Just curios have you been to any of the Volley Ball games? Trolling defined. Intentional misspelling of our name too...a nice touch.Waynes World;1313827 wrote:Participation ribbons will be the norm at Orrville soon. The championship trophy days are over. Beating WCAL teams handily is past tense. Getting owned in the OCC is common. Triway is undefeated on Orrvilles new field. Norwayne owns Orrville. Getting into and winning the WCAL is a pipe dream because the Red Raiders aren't good enough to win it. The playoffs are fine the way they are.
This is reality.
Deal with it.
and Smuckers will downsize and out source soon. The Cincy juggernaut is coming.
This is prophecy.
Get ready for it.
If a captain was elected and started to not show up he would no longer be a captain. I don't like waiting till paractice. Get it done before school is out and let them lead!RedRider1;1313933 wrote:The captains this year were not selected until after 2-a-days....I think in years past they were selected prior to the summer, then captains weren't showing up to lift/condition during the summer...so it was waited.
555...i know it's a small thing about who is leading cheers in the student body, but it does say something regarding potential leadership going in to next year. It's not a bad thing on this senior class, IMO, just a difference between the 2 classes.
...or maybe it shows that the junior class should all be cheerleaders instead of football players??? Just kidding...yes I have heard that they are a spirited bunch. Hopefully that same spirit will come out in next years football season!REDRIDER555;1313893 wrote:Just curios have you been to any of the Volley Ball games?
