Baylor doesn't deserve it. Big time schools like in Pac-12 or SEC deserve it. When Baylor starts winning, propose it. But Baylor is just to bad for a stadium that nice. I'm tying to insult no one, but Baylor just isn't the winningest school there is.

But it's really nice... What's the capacity?

Still in the very early stages. It's still proposed but not confirmed. This is what the article I grabbed the pic from has to say about capacity.IchsCreekPRIDE;964457 wrote:But it's really nice... What's the capacity?
The results of the fan survey and feasibility study will answer questions related to the stadium, including naming rights, stadium revenues, seating capacity, number of suites, club seating, function space and other amenities.

Ok. I'm guessing somewhere from 71,000-87,000 seating. It would look nice. Give that to an NFL team for all I care. Baylor doesn't win so much that they need a stadium like that.

What's it matter to you if Baylor gets a new football stadium? lolIchsCreekPRIDE;964478 wrote:Ok. I'm guessing somewhere from 71,000-87,000 seating. It would look nice. Give that to an NFL team for all I care. Baylor doesn't win so much that they need a stadium like that.

It's Baylor. If they wanna make a new stadium, make it 64,00 seater. Better teams than them deserve that.

And it is Baylor's money. They deserve whatever they can afford.IchsCreekPRIDE;964523 wrote:It's Baylor. If they wanna make a new stadium, make it 64,00 seater. Better teams than them deserve that.

So only the good schools can have nice stuff? Oh, that makes sense.

It's not about what you deserve, it's about what you're able to afford and what you think is feasible. It's not like Baylor is entering some competition to win a new stadium.IchsCreekPRIDE;964523 wrote:It's Baylor. If they wanna make a new stadium, make it 64,00 seater. It really does. Look at all the crappy schools with crappy things. Why should crappy schools get nice stuff?Jester;964757 wrote:So only the good schools can have nice stuff? Oh, that makes sense.
If they feel like this is the best move for their institution, so be it...time will tell.

All crappy schools have crappy facilities? You sure about that?OSH;964789 wrote:It really does. Look at all the crappy schools with crappy things. Why should crappy schools get nice stuff?

Nope. Read it again.SportsAndLady;964797 wrote:All crappy schools have crappy facilities? You sure about that?
I said, "look at all the crappy schools with crappy things." I didn't say, "look at all the crappy schools and they all have crappy facilities."
I think it's pretty common to see crappy schools with crappy facilities compared to good schools with crappy facilities -- especially when talking athletics. Schools that are labeled "good" will probably be investing more into their facilities than schools that are labeled "crappy." Sure, there are some crappy schools that have some nice things, but that's not typical.

Often a crappy program getting a nice stadium will help said crappy program to become a less crappy program (read: Oregon and Oklahoma State). Those programs aren't where they are today primarily because of great coaching, they are where they are today because they each have an "owner" that gave them world-class facilities to attract talent.

I agree. But there's a difference in crappy programs and crappy schools.krambman;964824 wrote:Often a crappy program getting a nice stadium will help said crappy program to become a less crappy program (read: Oregon and Oklahoma State). There are many crappy programs. But there's a reason they are crappy...the institution doesn't invest anything in them except for their operating budgets. I would venture to say that's 75-90% of all college athletic programs. There are just so many that institutions could care less about -- honestly, most of them are probably women's sports because many exist due to Title IX reasons.
Those crappy programs get a turn-around because the institution or a generous donor decides to invest in the program. That's the turn-around. Once there's investment, there is "care." All of a sudden, that program gets all the hoopla because of someone or some peoples' investments.

Baylor could of used that this year. Now since RG3 left, they'll be crap for another 7 years and I'll care less for what Baylor gets.

It looks like a nice stadium. The awning going all the way around looks to be a nice touch, wonder if they'll be any green living components added to that to help shiled fans from the hot Texas sun

Back in the 80s a guy jumped / fell off the King Ave bridge before a game. He lived and still tells the story frequently.

So once in thirty years. Sounds frequent.
