I can easily see them drafting 2-3 now.se-alum;972234 wrote:The Browns have set themselves up nicely for a top 2-3 pick. They only have one winnable game left on the schedule, but Jacksonville has a pretty good defense and MJD, so that's probably a loss.

I don't know. It would be tempting to take Barkley or Kalil. I know everyone here wants a WR, but I don't like taking a WR that high. Also, if they are that high I suspect heckert will be getting a lot of calls. If they can trade rape another team, then they def should do it. Especially if teams are willing to part away with a lot of picks for Barkley. If that is the case, then that means it will likely be a team drafting in the top 10 thus the Browns wouldn''t even drop that far down in the first round.BR1986FB;972245 wrote:That being the case, at this point, who is the pick?

I like this thinking. No way I want Blackmon with that high of a pick. I'd have no issue trading down a few slots. Having two 1st round picks every year is never a bad thing.like_that;972250 wrote:I don't know. It would be tempting to take Barkley or Kalil. you didnt like taking a WR that high last year..and look at the offense now.BR1986FB;972254 wrote:I like this thinking. No way I want Blackmon with that high of a pick. I'd have no issue trading down a few slots. Having two 1st round picks every year is never a bad thing.

You actually think taking a WR would have helped this offense this year?Pick6;972263 wrote:you didnt like taking a WR that high last year..and look at the offense now.
For a team with so many needs, the Browns did the right thing by taking another first rounder, and also numerous other picks.

Yeah, because I make the draft picks. They can grab a WR with the second 1st rounder if Heckert deems it necessary there.Pick6;972263 wrote:you didnt like taking a WR that high last year..and look at the offense now.

It's hard for me to pass on a WR when you see what AJ Green and Julio Jones(when healthy) have been able to do this year. We have to build the offensive side of the ball in this draft.

Same question I asked pick6. Do you think Julio would have the same type of success with the Browns?se-alum;972342 wrote:It's hard for me to pass on a WR when you see what AJ Green and Julio Jones(when healthy) have been able to do this year. Nope. Neither would Green. Now I'm not saying they DON'T need speed/playmakers at the WR position but the O-Line needs fixed first. If I'm not taking QB at 2 or 3 I might be tempted to take Trent Richardson. I think he has that Tomlinson/Adrian Peterson ability.like_that;972350 wrote:Do you think Julio would have the same type of success with the Browns?

Probably not, but that doesn't mean you don't draft great players when you have the opportunity. Blackmon is a hell of a talent, and one I wouldn't want to pass up on. I believe in making the QB the last piece of the puzzle, because young QB's are successful when they have a good team around them. Put the weapons in place, then worry about getting the QB. At some point we need big time skill players. Also, the new rookie cap makes it much easier to draft anyone you want, and not really have to worry about the money.like_that;972350 wrote:Same question I asked pick6. I can't draft a RB that high. RBs are dime a dozen in the league, they go as far as the line takes them.BR1986FB;972354 wrote:Nope. Neither would Green. I see. Im ok with getting a play maker, but if a team is willing to get trade raped again to move into Cleveland's position, then I would take the deal. If a team wants a QB they most likely are drafting from the top 10, so Cleveland will still get a very talented player with their first 1st rounder.se-alum;972356 wrote:Probably not, but that doesn't mean you don't draft great players when you have the opportunity. I think Richardson is the real deal but if you can't trade down I'm taking QB over WR at that spot (assuming they'd have the #2 pick).like_that;972364 wrote:I can't draft a RB that high. RBs are dime a dozen in the league, they go as far as the line takes them.

Drafting a QB to take over a team w/ no running game, a bad line, and talentless WR's are what the Browns are all about, so I guess that makes sense.BR1986FB;972368 wrote:I think Richardson is the real deal but if you can't trade down I'm taking QB over WR at that spot (assuming they'd have the #2 pick).

At some point, Heckert IS going to have to use free agency to fill some of these holes.se-alum;972382 wrote:Drafting a QB to take over a team w/ no running game, a bad line, and talentless WR's are what the Browns are all about, so I guess that makes sense.
I keep hearing "this is the best QB draft class since 1983." At some point, they ARE going to have to pull the trigger on a franchise QB. Might as well get one of them while the talent is considered "peak" unless you have a better idea for a QB in the 2013 draft?

Thank you!! Browns fans want to build the team through o-line, which is fine, and I completely understand the thought process. But every now and then you have to take the playmaker with a high pick.se-alum;972342 wrote:It's hard for me to pass on a WR when you see what AJ Green and Julio Jones(when healthy) have been able to do this year. Same type of success? Probably not. But this offense would be a whole lot different, and I can't see how we wouldn't be any worse than .500like_that;972350 wrote:Same question I asked pick6. Do you think Julio would have the same type of success with the Browns?
They beat the Bengals and the Rams w/ a playmaking WR like Jones or Green.
I mean is Dalton that much different than McCoy? Dalton is better, yes. But Green could produce w/ McCoy throwing to him.
This I can agree with. But eventually you gotta actually make the picks and get some playmakers on your offense.like_that;972364 wrote:I see. Im ok with getting a play maker, but if a team is willing to get trade raped again to move into Cleveland's position, then I would take the deal.

They beat the bengals if the defense doesn't fall asleep on one play, and they beat the rams if the special teams doesn't shit themselves lol.SportsAndLady;972442 wrote:Thank you!! Get Kalil, and get an offensive playmaker. then get a playmaker again in the second round. Patch up the offensive line, and then get 2 playmakers. whether that's a WR, RB, or a lamichael james type. For christ sake, at what point do we all sound like broken records. "let's draft linemen and build that up, then get playmakers" at some point you need to pull the trigger, cuase i am sick of watching our offense.

And Baltimore. I'd expect 0-2 against them, but any team that has losses to Jacksonville and Seattle is potentially beatable.BR1986FB;972241 wrote:Arizona is also a possibility. Not likely, but possible.
