5-star QB #FSU commit Jameis Winston tells me he will visit #OhioState officially. I asked him why and he said, "Urban Meyer!" #Buckeyes
Interesting.

And for the hell of it. The reporter that tweeted this.

The country’s No. 1 weakside defensive end in the 247Sports rankings, Noah Spence (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), is set to make an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of Dec. 17. It might be the only official visit Spence needs to take according to Spence’s father Greg Spence.

“He’s going out there on the 17th and we’ll have a little more to say after that,” Greg Spence said. “It could be his first and last official visit. If all goes well and my son feels comfortable with everything…”

Greg Spence has said his son is considering five schools, but with his timetable to announce his college choice, he may not get in any other official visits.

“It’s LSU, Florida, Maryland, Penn State and the Ohio State University,” Greg Spence said. “He is looking to announce (his decision) on Jan. 5 at the Under Armour All-American Game.”

Noah Spence has been to the other schools on his list a number of times. It will be up to Urban Meyer and the other Buckeye coaches to hit it out of the park when he is in Columbus.

Greg Spence is impressed with the new coach of the Bucks.

“He is very energetic and charismatic,” Greg Spence said. “His history speaks for itself. He has been around a lot of great football programs and great players. He sounds like a winner.”

But before Noah Spence visits Ohio State he has some business to take care of on the field. Last season McDevitt lost by one point in the state championship game. McDevitt plays in the state semi-finals this Friday and if they win they play for the state championship the following Friday.

The 6-foot-3 and 235-pound Noah Spence has been a varsity starter for one of the top prep football programs in the country since his freshman year. He made 42 tackles including 8.5 sacks that season. Noah Spence made 55 tackles with 8 sacks his sophomore year before a spectacular junior season. Noah Spence made 102 tackles and had a whopping 22 sacks last season.

In addition to being the country’s No.1 weakside defensive end, Spence is the No. 1 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania and the country’s No. 15 overall prospect.

His list of dozens and dozens of scholarship offers includes the five schools mentioned as well as USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, North Carolina State, Michigan State, Iowa, Illinois, Pitt and Rutgers.

Spence’s father Greg Spence played middle linebacker for North Carolina State and graduated in 1990.

Kurelic’s Comment: With the players the Buckeyes return next season they have the makings of a great defensive line. What they could use is a big-time pass rusher from the edge and Spence certainly has the ability to fill that role.

Tress was a guy that was going to recruit guys that he felt fit the OSU system. Meyer is going to start at the top of the ratings list, and work his way down, trying to make the guys fit. It's hard to argue with either style, given the success. I think that's why we'll see higher ups, and lower downs with Meyer, as where Tressel didn't deviate far from his yearly success.
He signed several different types of big time QBs for the OSU System.

Strong rumors that Dodson flipped his commitment to OSU. Nothing official yet.

Oh, and Tommy schutt is the latest top 100 prospect to schedule a visit. The big DT will visit this weekend.

Same goes for Pittman. Both are visiting this weekend. I expect huge news this weekend regarding those two. Schutt and Diamond also visiting.

If these kids do flip now. I will be kind of surprised because the NCAA penalties haven't been announced. Consensus is on the boards that there will be nothing major, but you never know.

I am loving hearing all of these top prospects decide to take official visits to columbus and visit Urban. Would be huge to land some of these guys...Especially to have 3 big time DL, a top 5 star QB and top wr's.

Yeah, theyve been announced and the internet and Columbus Dispatch hasnt picked up on it yet . USC recruits well with their problems. Its the school and coach that are making these kids look.

What Urban is doing is nothing short of spectacular.

FWIW, I saw a stat the other day that during Urban's years at UF they averaged 20.2 signees per class and Tressel had 22. Urban was one of those who was against the oversigning in the SEC.

Honestly, don't think it is spectactular. Its really what I expected to be honest. OSU in itself is going to get the attention of most recruits. Then you add Meyer name, and it was a no brainer he was going to haul in top talent from around the country. I'd be more shocked if he wasn't getting these players to take a serious look at OSU.

You two are right. It was expected. It is still however amazing to see what he can do. As buckeye fans we are not used to this in recruiting. I don't think its a miricle but its still more than I expected.
