You can be from a nice place and still run with a bad crowd.

Mitch Hyatt to Clemson, bummer... It was always going to be tough to overcome his family ties with Clemson but good luck to him.

With Slade signing today it's safe to call this class final. Unless, of course, DJ Law signs with OSU as well.

First I heard about this...

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2014/02/33194/report-ohio-state-talking-to-usc-transfer
According to a report from InsideUSC, Ohio State is one of the teams USC transfer quarterback Max Wittek is talking with. Louisville and Texas are also pursing the former highly sought after signal-caller. According to ESPN, Wittek soon plans to visit Texas and they could be the front runner for his commitment.
Since the former backup USC quarterback is planning to graduate this spring, he would not be required to sit out a year. He will have two years to play two seasons with whichever school he selects.
In 2012, as a red-shirt freshman, Wittek appeared in eight games. He was 36-of-69 for 388 yards with 3 TDs and 5 interceptions. The six-foot-four, 235 pound pocket passer does not seem to be the dual-threat style of quarterback that Urban Meyer typically has behind center.
Ohio State returns senior QB Braxton Miller with Cardale Jones, J.T. Barrett and true freshman Stephen Collier serving as his back-ups.

Number one, why would he want to come to OSU and waste a year behind Miller when he could compete to play right away at other places. Number two, he doesn't fit into Meyer system at all. Highly doubt he ends up at OSU.

Agree with both of you, and I was surprised when I saw it.

Rumor has it that Urban Meyer was trash talking Luke Fickell and Vrabel got physical with him.. which lead to him going to Houston.

"The incident occurred in early December -- the week before the contest against Michigan State in the Big Ten Championship game. Ohio State had just given up 603 yards and 41 points to a porous Michigan offense and barely escaped with a one-point victory.
Well, strength coach Mickey Marotti ? who is absolutely Meyer's right-hand man, was ribbing Luke Fickell about "not getting his guys juiced up enough" before games. No, he wasn't making a Jose Canseco reference. Marotti was suggesting that Fickell didn't get his guys fired up enough.
Then Meyer walked in and joined in on the banter. And while we're told Marotti's criticism of Fickell was somewhat light-hearted, Meyer was a bit more serious. He told Fickell that he needs to do a better job of getting the defensive players emotionally ready to go before kickoff.
Well, just then Mike Vrabel walks in and hears this conversation. According to an impeccable source, Vrabel went off. He felt that Marotti and Meyer were going after Fickell unfairly and Vrabel screamed at both of them. The shouting match escalated and it got to the point where Vrabel actually put his hands on Meyer. Didn't punch him, but did put his hands on him. (I've heard varying stories from two different sources: One says Vrabel put his hand around Meyer's neck and pinned him up against a wall; the other source says Vrabel grabbed the shirt collar and it wasn't quite as violent as the other source is making it seem.)
We're told it didn't happen right away since OSU was still undefeated at the time and very much in the national championship race, but eventually Vrabel was told he needed to find a new job. They decided they were going to try and keep everything in-house and make it look like an amicable split.
One major difference in what we've been told by sources regarding the incident is that the altercation between Meyer and Vrabel did not happen just days before Vrabel left for the Houston Texans. In fact, it happened over a month before Vrabel joined Bill O'Brien's staff. Like we said, the incident happened the week between the Michigan and Michigan State games. Vrabel didn't leave for the Texans' gig until Jan. 9."

I still call BS.

But, if its true, I have to think Fickell would've been shown the door as well.

I mean its not like it'd be without cause either.

Yea, can't imagine Fickell would still be there if that were the case.

Shelley meyer ‏@spinnershells 48m FYI Vrabel and Coach Meyer are very close-mike is a great coach and friend. He made a career decision PERIOD. #stopthenonsense

I have doubts about this too. BUT 11 warriors are usually pretty in tune with things. Which writer was it?

Only thing that doesn't make sense is, I very very seriously doubt Fickell would have stuck around if that had happened. Or meyer would have made sure he got a job somewhere.

Nothing would surprise me, not even this. That being said, I would find it hard to believe this was kept THAT quiet for this long. Players would have heard about it, and with 100 eighteen to 22 yr olds, it would have been out there pretty quick, somewhere.

Then again, with the stress and pressure on these coaches, it wouldn't surprise me a bit. Meyer is obviously ultra competitive guy...I highly doubt he sat back in his chair and said nothing about the defense, especially late in season when they were at their worst. When your offense is putting up record numbers, and has basically bailed the defense out for 2yrs.....I am sure frustrations/venting was going on within the coaches.

I'm told that they were nose to nose and Meyer proclaimed that he was "Ohio State Football". Vrabel told him that until he put pads on and bled for the team, all he was was a coach.
