ho should be the Offensive and defensive player of the Year in the OCC? My vote would be Monheim as D- POY. Didn't get to see some of the O players, but no one stood out that I saw. Some good players, but no one unstopable.

why monheim because he is a d1 college prospect. no theres alot of good player madison has a few in kale huss and cody thompson and riyad black.

Didn't get to see the Madison people so that's why Monheim. The idea was to hear opinions. Ours differ.

Monheim = DPOY. End of that discussion. That would be 4 straight DPOY's from Orrville. Chase Hoobler was co-DPOY in 2008, won it again in '09 and Monheim won it in '10.

Offense is tougher...thought Dorsey from Senior had it until he got hurt in week 4. I think it's between Jones from Ashland and Anderson from Wooster.

Week 3 was great as Tristen Jeffries for Sandusky (who is a D1 prospect at WR/CB) and Marquis Jones put on a show.

Good question. OPOY will be a tough vote this year. I know Anderson had an excellent season. The Riders played him so well that its hard for me to give him a vote since thats the only game I saw him play. Jones didn't stand out all that much against us either. He had a good game but then again when its the only time you watch them you have to bank more on season stats than anything.

Anyone have the DR final stats sheet to scan and download? Anderson would get the nod for OPOY, maybe Wallace out of Norwayne could be considered too. His finale against Hillsdale was huge.

Oh good gawd....I just read the title again and thought it was the OC not the OCC. If that's the case....ummm, yeah...Wallce is out. LOL

Stokes from Woo with 9 sacks and 100+ tackles....whoa, kinda looks a bit better than Monheim, plus he was on the D-Line being blocked, while Mason gets the glory as a LB.

Less tackles, less tackles for loss and Monheim has an incredible pick 6 while anchoring an excellent defense while Stokes played on a rather pathetic one. Not much to go on there. It looks like you're stretching for someone other than Monheim, but you're entitled to your opinion.

Daily Record POY may come down to the winner of the Orrville/Norwayne game, assuming it happens.

If Monheim finishes with 1100-1200 yards rushing, 125 tackles and Orrville beats Norwayne (and played a MUCH tougher schedule)...you have to give it serious consideration.

Guessing Wallace gets it even if all of the above happens...and we'll have plenty to feel slighted about in Red Rider Country.

I feel your pain buddy. Been there before, but hopefully we've turned the corner. You'll have issues the next couple of years, but hopefully you can turn it around.

Monheim-D and Wallace -O as the DR picks. Anything else and circulation got in the way.

Monheim also stripped the ball from a Lexington Rb and took it to the house as well.

That was quite impressive OQB. Can't believe I neglected to include that in my post. It'd be hard to vote against him.

The Ohio Cardinal Conference recently released its all-league football selections, with a trio of area players picking up Player of the Year Awards.
Second-place Orrville led the way with the OCC Defensive Player of the Year in senior Mason Monheim, while classmate Drew Brenner was named the OCC Special Team POY.
League champion Ashland boasted Coach of the Year Scott Valentine, and Arrows wide receiver Marquise Jones shared Offensive POY honors with Wooster senior quarterback Devin Daugherty.
Locally, Orrville had five players make the All-OCC first team in seniors Stewart Turner Jr., Dylan Lemon, Trevor White and Ronnie Lehtomaki, and sophomore Trevor Summers.
Devonta Anderson (Sr.) was Wooster's lone first-team All-OCC pick, while West Holmes put seniors Joey Gonzalez and Dustin Shaffer on the first team along with junior Keaton Leppla.
Rounding out the OCC first team was Mansfield Senior's Terrell Harris, Clear Fork's Cole Pollard, Logan Dernbach and Brandon Fields; Lexington's Andrew Hunter, Brandon Henderson and Johnny Webster; Madison's Taj Coffee, Riyad Black, Alek Lampert and Cody Thompson; and Ashland's Zach Bernhard, Greg Gallaway, Steve Mowry, Willie Moore, Seth Shakely and Adam Wolbert.
Area players named All-OCC second team included Orrville's Lareece Woods (Sr.), Zane Vierheller (Jr.) Cody Weaver (Sr.), Alex Samson (Sr.) and Nick Graber (Jr.); West Holmes juniors Garrett Mackey and Brock Macaulay and sophomore Brady Arnold; and Wooster junior Grant Stokes.
Honorable mention picks for the Generals included Keegan Bess, Brenner Lewis and Darrian Owens, along with West Holmes' Layne Perone, Grant Hay and Tyler Butler, and Orrville's Dakota Herrington, Kyle Lichti and BJ Johnson.
Ashland won the OCC with a 6-1 record, followed by Orrville (5-2), Madison (4-3), West Holmes, Lexington and Clear Fork all at 3-4, and Wooster and Mansfield Senior at 2-5.

What put Drew in front of Stu??? I thought Stu was the lightning? Serious question.

My guess would be his punting put him over top of Stu.
