Because he is suing a private Catholic university about Muslim rights, when none of the Muslim students have even complained.

While I don't think this guy has a chance in hell to be successful with his complaint, it states that a student did complain in an article in the Washington Post, but did not directly complain to the professor. Also, he is not suing, he filed a complaint with the D.C. Office of Human Rights.

That is different than suing someone in court.

Also, the title of this thread should be changed. Number one, no one is being sued. A complaint was filed with the DC HRO. Number two, no muslim students have filed a complaint or filed a suit against the school per this article, it was a law professor. I question whether either of you read the article at all or comprehended it.

The law allows religious and political organizations to give “preference” to people of the same religion or political persuasion “to promote the religious or political principles for which it is established,” Tuttle said.

Sounds like a waste of time. It is a private university and by law can allow whatever religious organizations they want. You chose to go to a catholic school, deal with their rules. The professor sounds like a nut job anyway.

I agree. However, only one student (as far as we know) has complained and that was in a Washington Post article. None have complained to the professor that filed the complaint with the DC HRO.

Forgive my wording counsel. I wasn't highlighting this as a case study in student rights. I was commenting on the humorous fact that someone is offended by Catholic symbols at a place, ironically, named "Catholic University". I'll standby my opinion is a ivory tower jagoff.

Actually the thread title implies that the muslim students are suing, which is so far off and just goes to show your bigoted ways. You are a bigot and always assume the worst about muslims. First it was the killings in Norway in which you were so sure that it was muslim extremists. Now you post a thread title that deems muslim students as if they are suing a catholic university.

Go ahead and be a narrow-minded bigot, but at least post factually.

Where did it say they were offended by Catholic symbols?

Just more jibberish from this fool. Posts the link to an article he clearly didn't read and then accuses the wrong people of suing in a case in which no one is suing anyone else.

Remember this gem of a thread?

You just love to wrongfully accuse muslims.

From that thread the good doctor, dr winston, said the following
The sick people. Yes, I know all Muslims aren't hateful, bloodthirsty psychos. But millions upon millions of them are. Sick, sick, sick religion.

Bigot
I admitted at the time that I was way off on that thread. I posted it in the early hours of that bombing when a Muslim group had taken responsibility. Bad move I admit.

THis suit by the professor was brought after he was approached by Muslim students who were upset that they didn't have a prayer room at the school that was free of Catholic symbols. This Washington Post article is one of many on the topic, so look into it for yourself.

You can make any assumptions about me you want. If you're able to call me a bigot without knowing anything about me, they congrats on your clairvoyance. THe fact is, I believe Islam is an intolerant political/religious philosophy. That doesn't mean all of its adherants are bad people. And are there intolerances in other faiths - Christian, Jewish, etc? Sure. And when those faiths start causing mass death and mayhem, I will point them out just the same.

from the article you provided
The details of that situation were not clear Thursday, but professor John Banzhaf said he filed the complaint with the city based on the article and had not received any complaints from Muslim students.
So you want us to make your argument for you when you can't?

We shouldn't assume you're a bigot just because you think Islam is an intolerant philosophy? Please define bigot for me.

You can't be this stupid, can you? The professor was NEVER approached by muslim students per the article you linked. And there has been no suit filed, it is a complaint with the DC HRO.

You posted this article and still can't get it right? Read the article, then have someone sitting next to you read the article so they can explain it to you. You clearly don't comprehend it.
