Don't forget to turn your clocks back tonight to mark Bama and LSU turning football offense back half a century.

Without going back and reading all these posts, IMO last night's game didn't come close to matching the hype. The offenses were anemic, it was marred by stupid penalties, it featured some very puzzling decisions by the coaches, and TM7 was exposed for the thug he is, HOWEVER...LSU's defense is sick, one of the best defenses I've seen since the 'Canes of the 80', and this may very well carry them to the national title.

Are people really starting 2 doubt these teams now? Playing against each others defenses is the ONLY way they put up that bad of numbers offensively. The game was definitely a dissapointment though and nowhere near the hype and agree the osu/mich game was much much better. I still think these are the 2 best teams in the country and will win the BCS bowl games they are in. Also for the people saying they now have doubts and dont think they are that good heres a question. Name me 1 team who you would actually put money down 2 beat either of these teams on a neutral field. Not COULD beat(of course there are multiple teams that COULD) but WOULD beat them.

I feel asleep attempting to watch this game. All I can remember is that Bama needs a kicker.

How can you know who WOULD beat them until after the game? I would have no reservations putting money on Stanford,Boise St or Oklahoma or Okla St on a neutral field against either of these teams.

Gtfo with Boise beating either of these teams. What you saw tonight is defenses filled with NFL players. i would not put any money on any team beating these two.

Good article on espn.com now from Wojciechowski. I like the opening line.
"TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- If that was The Game of the Century, then I want my 100 years back.Top-ranked LSU's 9-6 overtime win against No. 2 Alabama Saturday evening wasn't the game of the century, decade or season. I'm not even sure it was the game of the day."

I actually found the game pretty entertaining. You can't appreciate good football if you are on team "boring." Not every game has to be madden like with 60 pts being put on the board for it to be entertaining.

rotinaj, no one is saying these teams aren't good lol we're saying this was hyped as the "game of the century" and two GREAT, complete teams...they may be great, but they're not complete..these offenses are not good and IMO this game didn't prove that they are unbeatable against a team like Stanford, Okla, Okla St, etc.

These are likely the two best teams in the country, but it's not clear cut like some are saying

Holy Cow - I agree with Sleeper for the second time in recorded history. The media will call this "two outstanding defenses". The same game in the Big Ten would be "two punchless, slow offenses".

Compare the OSU/Michigan State game this year to Bama/LSU. You don't think people are able to tell a difference?

I'd put money on Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Boise, Stanford, and Wisconsin beating either of these teams on a neutral field. Neither of these teams have any offensive talent outside of Richardson for Alabama. These teams being ranked in the top ten is a complete farce, neither are any good.

I actually hope LSU wins out so they can be exposed for the fraud they are against a real team.

I can tell you this. If LSU wins out, they will be at least a 5-7-point favorite in the BCSNCG. Alabama, likely goes 11-1, will be an even bigger favorite in the Sugar Bowl. We may very possibly see LSU/Oklahoma State and Alabama/Boise State. People might get their wish.

No If Boise St beat Alabama in that scenario people would just say Alabama didn't care about that game because they were disappointed not being in the NC game just like when Alabama was stomped by Utah in the Sugar Bowl in 2009. Many people used that excuse.

Wow, cant believe all the negative talk about Bama and LSU and "how bad they are". As Ive said a million times, defense wins championships. It dont matter if teams are scoring 50+ points all year. You see what happens to them in bowl games. Ok St, OK, ORE, Stanford, and Boise are playing cupcakes and giving up alot of points to them. These teams would fall flat on their face vs. LSU or Bama and would get smoked. How many close calls have those teams had this year already? How many close calls have Bama or LSU had? ZERO! How soon people forget how bad LSU and Bama have beaten Oregon, PSU, Arkansas, WVU, Aub (2 of them are top 10 teams). Those teams didnt have great defenses.

At some point the line is drawn between defensive excellence to offensive ineptitude, and last night was an example of a game that crosses that line.
