The WQKT/Steve Smith Classic is one of the best days of the winter for local basketball fans. Can't wait! A full day with great basketball.

DUH!!!!!!! Ever heard of selling the second home? If you are so interested in their finances and ability to own 2 houses perhaps you should call and ask for a financial otherwise satisfy your curiosity and drive by the old house and have your picture taken next to the for sale sign.

Don't get your pants all in a ruffle Grandpa. This isn't something personal. This is payback ( All in fun) for past jabs from WH people. You'll have to read back 2-3 yrs to figure it all out.

flo: not that I recall. Most of the current players' parents were probably teenagers at that game, so this team knows nothing of Orrville.

300: I don't mind seeing a more competetive balance NOW! (was happy with yearly beat downs up to this point! ;) )

Believe it or not had my first Coccia House pizza this week. It was excellent. It will not be my last. I'll be enjoying another one during the classic. The wife loved it as well. She gave it a close second to Dinofalos in Dover (only a memory now). No longer in existance it was a pregnacy craving for the wife many moons ago.

First year in college. The only game other than the state games I recall watching that year. By the way if one of your appendeges ever meets the blade of a table saw, Ricola knows how to sew.

Saw him resolve a shoulder dislocation a few weeks ago. I was impressed.

300, I saw your picture in the paper last week. Nice. Did those Bergholz Amish visit you? They got me quite a while ago. :)

If you saw mine, you saw both boys too. Chips off the old bowler!

I actually know a couple of those hoodlums, including the ringleader. We've done a lot of work for them over the years. I never have to worry as I'm in with them pretty tight. LOL

Heath is not playing in this event, I do know they found a replacement but do not recall who is taking their place.

Funny story about LE. My son played post against them in the 2006 regional semis. They had a kid who was something like 6'8" and 300 lbs. My son was 6'2" craning his neck and standing on his tip toes and weighed about 200. They had an obvious advantage there. All the big kid did was walk from one side on the low block to the other. They never threw him the ball! Instead, their guards jacked up 30-35 foot 3's - made quite a few, but not enough to win. Son said it was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever seen, and the easiest defensive assignment he had ever had. Point being that the coaching might not be the greatest with that team if the same guy is there.

Isn't LE the school that had the big stink about it's coach last year?..the team refusing to play for him because he was a racist, etc? I think he stepped down? was let go? And pretty sure HE was not the coach from '06. In any event they underacheived again in canton last year, getting beaten by Macdonald, the team Hiland literally blew away.
But you're right--they always have athletes there, but rarely the coaching to make them get anywhere. Take any one of several IVC coached there (Schlabach, Tucci, Shutt e.g.) or a number of others from elsewhere, and they could make some noise. And as I recall your son indeed shut him down completely in that game! A defensive clinic!

I believe it was Richmond Heights, not Lutheran East, whose coach was let go due to some racial issues with the team...

Hiland is easily a 10 point favorite against Orrville in this one.....should be a nice crowd though.

This is the weekend for the classic. I am expecting this to be one of the more well attended of the classics to this date.

If we zone Hiland..they will shoot us right out of it.
If we man them up, like I think Sly will...we get beat on the boards badly and Bonifat and Kauffman eat us up.

Pick your poison. I think we get beat by 20!

I'll be there for the second half of the Triway game and will stay for the Northwestern game. Don't know what other games I will stay for, too much going on.
