Just in case ANYONE is interested, here is a link to Massillon Proud and take a look at some of the Tigers (pile on wins) vs. the likes of Ygn. Woodrow Wilson in 2001 56-8 or Fremont Ross 57-6 or Akron Garfield 59-0.
So you see buddy, anyone can pull scores out of context as I'm sure you guys pulled your starters early

Can we at least establish that there is nothing wrong with scoring a lot of points against your opponent?
But, in all the Mooney and Massillon scores mentioned above, do you think either team performed an onside kick when they were up that big? I doubt it, only one classy coach pulls that stunt.

Exactly. I don't even care if you put the second and third teams in, let them run your normal offense, and THEY score a bunch of points. That is absolutely fine in my book.Mooney44Cards;937857 wrote:Can we at least establish that there is nothing wrong with scoring a lot of points against your opponent?

But to keep the starters in while you're up big, and then to kick an onside kick, shows that you lack all class.

And we've had our butts handed to us also. The difference you ask? We complained about our coach, our D coordinator, our defensive scheme. We don't complain about the other teams coach not taking it easy on us.

Oh give me a break skank. This is a little much...even for you.
Nobody is saying Ursuline should have "taken it easy" on Mooney last year. They are saying that Reardon should have shown a little class and not kicked it onside and threw deep with the starters in up by as much as they were.

When I was a boy back in 1934.... if I remember correctly, I think Big Red beat Massillon 68-0. The worse loss in the Tigers history. We had over a 700 yard rushing (a national record that stood until the 90's). I think my little brother Morris even ran one in on the Tigers.

Why in God's green earth the coaching staff at Mooney squibbed every kickoff I'll never know. Giving a team like Ursuline the ball on the 50 yard line after you take the lead, not once, but twice is beyond me. I guess that's why I'm not coaching. Maybe common sense isn't a requirement.

So proud of my Irish! What a win for the Ursuline Football Team, Student Body, and Alma Mater. That place had the feel of a playoff environment in the 4th quarter!

Still think Ursuline does not make it. Zanesville losing to Cambridge is a major blow... they really needed Zanesville to win. Now Ursuline has to turn to East Tech to pull out a win in the last two weeks.
Phase 1 worked out for Uruline in that one team ahead them, Barnesville, lost. Now it appears it will come down to a points war with Southern... unless somebody like Garaway stumbles next week against Strasburg (this is their best bet for a R17 playoff team losing).

Yes you are correct. 68-0; 724 rushing yards by Puck Bergwin, a national record for years. But, that drubbing got Massillon started on an amazing run over the years. A large poster that read: Remember this score: 68-0 hung In Massillon's locker room for years.
Back on topic: great win for Ursuline. It may be a little late, but it probably made their season.
