Not only did they not win or make it to a final four, but they didn't look like a top 4 team most of the year. Yes, they had injuries before the season, early in the season, and late in the season. They just didn't have the look of a champion from day 1. It seems Roy put all his eggs in this year's basket, but it didn't happen. Now he must rebuilt with a very green team.
I'd agree. They never dominated. They lost a game by 30+ points. They lost a home. They didn't win the ACC Tournament.
With Marshall (and Strickland even), they were plenty able to win the title. However, it's not like they were a runaway train with no forces to stop them even before those injuries. That will keep them from going down as a great team, and it will make people forget the injuries much sooner than they will forget other injuries (Derek Anderson in 1997, Kenyon Martin in 2000 come to mind).
With that said, I don't think this one can be blamed on Roy. Injuries happen and Roy recruited for it (for the most part). However, they lost the single piece they couldn't afford.
