Agreed that if Syracuse wins out, including the Big East tourney, that the Orangemen would have the nod as the number one overall. I don't think they are going to do that. They still have games at UConn (never easy and a rivalry game) and against top 15 Louisville, on top of the aforementioned Big East Tournament in New York. With as many good teams as there are in the conference, it's anybody's dance in MSG.

Kentucky's only real test left in the regular season is at Florida. I think they win there and then sweep their way to an SEC tourney championship.

Yeah if UK wins out they will be the overall 1.

Even if they lose, they still could get it. Depending on when and to who.

Nice comeback. If UK wins out, they are no doubt the #1 overall seed. Their wins (and losses) would be better than Syracuse.

I think the #1's end up being UK, Syracuse, Duke/UNC, and Kansas/MSU.

Id think UK would be #1 overall. They lost on the road in the (to date) toughest environment of the year...and it took a buzzer beater 3 to do it.

They are blowing people out of the water this year.

^ In that case, I'd lean towards MSU getting it, and I'd fear Kansas being in UK's bracket more than anyone else.

Don't get me wrong. UK is a very good team. But if the Cuse win out they will get the nod as the No. 1 overall. No knock to Kentucky just how I think it will happen.

I'm actually thinking that may be what kills their chances at the #1 overall, not their fault the rest of the league isn't real good but the 'Cuse has had a tougher road without question. You may be right but I'm not so sure.

Kentucky has 6 wins over the top 50, including 2 over Kansas and North Carolina. They would have also beaten Florida twice (possibly 3 times in the SEC Tournament). They also beat Louisville.

Syracuse has 7 wins against the top 50. Florida (who UK also beat), Louisville (who UK also beat), Marquette, Seton Hall, Connecticut, West Virginia and Georgetown.

Both teams have 2 top 50 opponents left plus the conference Tournament.

But why? Also, that many first place votes is indicitive of how the selection comittee would also vote.

I mean, nothing on Syracuses resume will say they are more deserving that UK, imo.

Kansas hosts Mizzou and the St. Louis Regional just opened up for the Jayhawks if they win out. That could be amazingly favorable for them...a lot at stake.

This. Are we all forgetting who UK played in the OOC schedule? UK has the better resume.

If both win out, it will be close call between UK and Syracuse. Either would be more than deserving in that scenario. However, since I don't believe that the Orangemen will win six straight games to end the season -- this is because I think the Big East Tournament is too wide open and there are going to be some very hungry teams out with a vengeance for the 'Cuse to spoil their tournament title -- I think UK will get it outright.

The national tournament is going to be wild.

I guess. But by 1. UK has the two better wins, by far. UNC and Kansas.

Their lone loss? ND vs IU? IU is the better loss based on venue and the fact that on a neutral court IU beat ND by double digits.

It's perception that the Big East is great. This year, it sucks. Now, compared to other years, "sucks" is a fair word. It's a deep league, but it also has 16 teams. Look at the Big East, out of conference, and they aren't very strong in-terms of wins.

Syracuse - Florida
Marquette - Wisconsin
Georgetown - Alabama, Memphis
Louisville - Memphis
West Virginia - Kansas State, Miami
Connecticut - Florida State, Harvard
Seton Hall - VCU
Rutgers - Florida

That, it its entirety, is the quality wins for the Big East out of conference. Every league outside of the Pac 12, and possibly even the Mountain West has more, and all of them have at least 4 less teams.

But that's the perception that needs to be overcome with an east coast bias, I know it "sucks" reletively but that's not how it will be viewed imo.

The SEC has 16 "quality" OOC wins, and I'll bet that's 4th out of 6 in the power leagues. The B1G and Big XII clearly have more without even counting. ACC would be close.

In general, yes. However, the UK brand and resume will separate them from conference affiliation. Same as it would for Duke, UNC or Kansas.

However, we are all assuming that teams win out. Everyone this year has been vulnerable and honestly anyone in the top 40 can win a given game, or around that many teams.

Fun discussion, though.
