There really isnt any games that are interesting to me this week. Kinda a boring week. Have any of you bought tickets off of scalpers before? Have you ever got a good deal, or been ripped off? Im going to the LSU/Tenn game this w/e and planning on buying off scalper close to game time. Havent done it before. Anything to be aware of? If I dont get tickets, i will still be on vaca in the Smokies, so no biggie.

Tickets drop substantially after KO, if you are paying 30 - 40 above face an hour before game, that's about normal. After KO they go below face.
Have a stadium seating chart handy. Once bought a ticket to a Steelers playoff game for upper level face and scalper told me DO NOT sit in that seat, I wanted to stand on rail anyway.

@ Neyland, you should find plenty of good seats for face before kickoff. They have 104,000 seats, they are 3-2 with LSU & Bama up, & Bray is out.
Tickets on the LSU site are 50 and under for 70 face value. The tenn posters are saying I should get them even cheaper than that if I wait till close to game time.

If you're not familiar with the stadium, take a seating chart so you know what you're getting. I've scalped tickets that were supposed to be on the 50 and they were not even close.

Yeah, scalpers will always try to present the tickets to you as better than they are. In some cases they may have a stadium chart themselves that has the numbers changed. So, study the seating charts to know which ranges you want (and be aware of where the number ends and begins).
But, I've scalped numerous times. And it's always up to negotiation.

That shouldn't be a problem. Just don't trust them when they try to sell you some great seats.

I haven't bought a ticket ahead of time for a couple years now. (except ND, where it is difficult to scalp) It's a game for me. You have to be willing to walk away though. Scalping is fun for me.

Just make sure the ticket does not say "Student" or you may not get in. I think most SEC schools check this more and more the last few years.
