Has anyone heard any updates re: Braxton Miller's injury? I've scoured various sites and Twitter, and can't seem to find anything other than 'high ankle sprain.'

Anyone hear something a bit more definitive?

My guess is a minor ankle sprain. It didn't look that bad, but you know how that feels when you do it, hurts like a bitch.

I always try not to poke fun at others' injuries, simply for the fact that everyone tolerates pain differently, and no one really knows how bad someone is injured except for the person who holds the injury. You just never know what they're feeling/experiencing.

But yes... it did not look to be too bad.

Supposedly, he will be back and ready to go. The Dispatch had an article saying as much this morning. If he's not ready, it will be Guiton. Guiton was going to relieve Bauserman should OSU have gotten the ball back at the end.

I was very disappointed that Miller didn't go back into the game....short of the coaches taking his helmet (which they could have), I was surprised he wasn't in their ear begging to get back in. IMO, this would have went a long way in showing his teammates what kind of cajones he has, and also in paving the way for him to be a team leader in the future.

You miss time year after year after year, at some point being labelled as soft is not unfair.

Why would you want him to go back in? He had a major limp on the sidelines. He would have been ineffective if he would have went back in.

After a few minutes he was walking around with no limp at all. He didnt want to go back into that game. As soon as Nebraska got fired up and started bringing heat on defense, he clearly decided better Joe than him.

After he got taped up, he was shown walking, and then running gingerly. I'm not pretending to know the amount of pain he was in, 'cause it varies from person to person. All I'm saying is that IMO, if he could've gutted it out AT ALL, it may have inspired the offense to raise their game to another level to get back some of the momentum they had lost.

With all due respect, Miller at 50% is better than Bauserman at 100%.

When I saw him he could barely put weight on it. Then after that the onslaught had begun which resulted in a increase in my beer consumption. After that I didn't really pay attention to the sidelines.

Regardless, I believe if he could have went in he would have. His primary threat is with his legs, no point to to put him out there if he couldn't run effectively. It could have been as bad or worse off than Bauserman. Although I don't know if its possible to do any worse.

The team doctors said he couldn't go back in, not Miller or the coaches.

End of story.

Obviously, they (the doctors) were concerned that playing on it more was only going to make things substantially worse, and possibly risk a much more serious injury.

Would you rather have had a POSSIBLE win over Nebraska or lose Miller for at least several more weeks because he aggravated the injury?

In any event, it doesn't matter what you or I think: the doctors made this call. In college sports, the doctors have the final say.

I'm glad you qualified your post with this last statement. However, regardless what Miller's primary threat is, and no matter how wobbly his passes were, THEY STILL GOT TO THEIR INTENDED TARGETS, something that JB's did not.

I agree. Miller's limp was noticeable. He winced every time he put pressure on it. He clearly was in a lot of pain. He was in no shape to go back out there.

I believe that pain tolerance increases with maturity. There's a major difference between an 18 year old true frosh and a 5th year senior when it comes to maturity. I don't think anyone would deny that. It's my understanding Miller has been injury prone in the past and I knew playing football in the Big 10 wasn't going to change this. When you have a dual threat QB like Miller, you have to take the good with the bad. In this case, injuries (especially early in his career) will probably be the norm. Let's just hope if he isn't able to go, Guiton can at least hit the broad side of a barn. At this point in the season, we know our number 2 QB can't.
