Should be moved to the political boards. Apparently Hank has a short memory regarding the last guy in power....

I'm no Obama lover, but his comments were completely moronic and sad. Does he really think Obama compares to Hitler

No. He compared Boehner and Obama playing golf to Hitler and an Israeli Prime Minister playing golf.jordo212000;921040 wrote:Does he really think Obama compares to Hitler
He then went on to rip Obama, but not comparing him to Hitler.

ESPN has to right to have business relationships with whomever they please.
That being said, I hope they use the standards the next time Stephen A. Smith makes derogatory comments about tea party members and other conservatives.

I don't see the big deal, an NFL non-troversy, it isn't as if they are doing something truly stupid like having Madonna perform the halftime show at the Super Bowl.

He compared boehner and Obama playing golf to the leader of Israel and Hitler doing the same...an exaggeration, yes. Stupid? Not really

I don't think it was a direct comparison as much as it was an ignorant rube's attempt at being political. A proper analogy would have been Hitler and Churchill playing golf or maybe Netanyahu playing golf with Abbas.
You have to stay contemporary. You can't mix time periods.
That being said, I had a nice argument with two guys outside my courthouse the other day when I was buying my car registration. They were from LaRoche Pac, and had pictures of Obama with the Hitler mustache. They tried to engage me and I simply declined on the basis they are representing a US President as an antichrist. That wasn't good enough and they tried to goad me into a conversation. I ended it neatly by saying that the office of the POTUS deserves a level of respect, and that just because they had the right to do what they were doing...didn't make it right.

It was both. I wasn't too put off by it, as he did not directly refer to anyone as Hitler. It was just a poor exaggeration.

No, it was the proper analogy. Netanyahu has been the Prime Minister of Israel, a Jewish nation. Hitler wanted to kill all Jews. The leader of the jews and the killer of the jews having a friendly game of golf is ridiculous. That is the point he was trying to make, that he thinks it is ridiculous for 2 people with such different political views to have a nice chat.georgemc80;921373 wrote:I don't think it was a direct comparison as much as it was an ignorant rube's attempt at being political. I don't agree with him, but people saw "Obama" and "Hitler" in the same sentence and the shit hit the fan. He isn't comparing anyone directly to Hitler or Netanyahu. It's funny that people want to call Bocephus names, such as you have, yet they can't even comprehend what he was saying.

i didnt think the comment was that bad i found it funny but on the other hand unless i it was a discussion on WWII or something like that, i have never seen a person use hitler in the conversation and have it work out for them

Tell me about it. I remember the time where I said that if the man wasn't keeping me down, I'd be bigger than Hitler. It sucks when your best friend kicks you out of his wedding...Gblock;921722 wrote:i didnt think the comment was that bad i found it funny but on the other hand unless i it was a discussion on WWII or something like that, i have never seen a person use hitler in the conversation and have it work out for them

I think I made it clear that I understood what he said. All I simply said was a more appropriate analogy would be the leader of said jewish state and the leader of the palestinians playing golf. Just as ridiculous and politically correct. If you are offended by the ignorant rube comment, then I suggest you buy a dictionary. I simply called him an uneducated, unsophisticated person from a rural area. You put the negative spin on it.LJ;921526 wrote:No, it was the proper analogy. Except Obama and Boehner are ideally working towards a common goal(fixing the economy.) Even if they can't agree on how to do it, they both acknowledge that's what they want. Not quite the same with Hitler and Netanyahu.bases_loaded;921363 wrote:He compared boehner and Obama playing golf to the leader of Israel and Hitler doing the same...an exaggeration, yes. Stupid? The reality is, he's either an idiot who can't choose his words carefully, or an attention whore. Either way isn't good.
Besides, didn't Republicans always want celebrities to keep their mouths shut about politics?
