Air Force brings its triple option offense to South Bend. They escaped with a 35-34 win over Navy after blowing a big lead.

Air Force schedule so far:

South Dakota State 37-0 W
TCU 35-19 L
Tennessee State 63-24 W
Navy 35-34 W

They are averaging 365 yards rushing a game, good for 3rd in the country. Notre Dame is giving up 91 yards a game on the ground and has played 5 good rushing attacks.

Notre Dame wins this one. Won't be a blowout, but the Irish will control the tempo of the game throughout. 31-17 Irish

This game worries me. I think it's 27-17 Irish. Spread should be -5.5 in my opinion.

Notre Dame still has issues scoring in the red zone. They need to take advantage of those opportunities.

Hopefully Ethan Johnson is ready to go.

The long snapper Cowart broke his hand in that skirmish yesterday. He will try to snap this week but his status is uncertain.

Johnson will stay in a boot until the middle of the week, and Kelly said there's "a chance" that he'd be able to play. Ugh.

Irish open as an 11 point favorite. It will be interesting to see which direction the line moves.

I'm worried about this game as well. Red zone follies is the main reason.

I'm comfortable with the front 7 going up against the triple option here. And I think between Cierre Wood/Jonas Gray and throwing it up to Michael Floyd, the offense should be fine. This will be a confidence building game.

Irish by an easy 17.

I hate these games, and AF is largely inferior. The key to beating the academies is getting a big lead early by airing it out and exposing their poor db's, which then forces them to throw the ball, which they suck at. It completely demoralizes them if you take them out of their game plan early and they normally fold. If you start the game slowly and allow them to hang around and gain confidence it can get dangerous.

I expect BK to pour it on early, similar to the Purdue game. He did a great job game planning and play calling to get Floyd different looks. The Irish should dominate again this week.

-16.5?!

I'd put money on Air Force. But if you can't tell, I'm still suffering from Navy hangover.

Air Force is a sneaky quality team. They have some injuries on defense and are iconsistent in play from quarter to quarter within a game.

Their offensive scheme has more passing than the other academies but is still founded on the triple option. Multiple formations to force the defense to adjust still results in running the triple option football.

I've got Notre Dame in this one by 14.

Sounds like Hendrix will see the field for the first time this weekend. Kelly alluded to it in his radio show tonight.

Notre Dame does not cover the 16.5, but they win. I also predict they win out the rest of the season and get a BCS bid.

Five-star ATH/WR Nelson Algohor is visiting for this game. He's essentially Percy Harvin.

Getting Nelson Algohor and Shaq Thompson would be absolutely unreal.

Yeah some of the players will. Pink gloves, towels, hats, coaches shirts as well. Kelly's wife is a 2 time breast cancer survivor so its obviously a pretty big deal to him.

haha sorry.

From a poster on IE:
so just left the pep-rally. im a frosh, and so proud of the undergrad students, there were nelson signs allll over, and a nelson chant. also, i saw him after and talked to him, my best friend goes to school with him so i talked a little about her, he was sooo surprised at how we were embracing him. also, ive talked to/met a lot of recruits here, he is up and away one of the classiest and nicest guys ive met. hes awesome. one of the students made a huge "letter of intent" poster and brought it over to nelson at the end, who was laughin and seemed to love the attention, like he was not expecting it at all. oh, and he signed it haha
Hahah I was the one who made the letter of intent and Nelson sign here poster. Brian Kelly gave us a shout out for it during the pep ralley and like jimmymac said Nelson checked the maybe section of our will you come here sign. I don't know how to get an image in here, but if I did I would post the picture of our signs.
awesome.
