Good one on ESPN tonight. USF is still undefeated and Pitt has dropped two straight against Iowa and Notre Dame. BJ Daniels for USF has been putting up Madden-esque numbers this season and their defense has been very opportunistic. Pitt running back Ray Graham looks to be a stud.
I like USF in this one by 4.

Wonder if they get this game in before this storm gets there. It's really windy here.

I will never understand why offensive lineman stay frozen in stance when there is an offside penalty. Why the hell wouldn't you move once the play is underway? It's stupid.

I just turned the game on about 10 minutes ago and am in shock.
Pitt played ND tough (not sure how much merit that holds), but they absolutely handed it to USF tonight,

44-17 Pitt very late. I have to admit that I am shocked or at least pleasantly surprised. The D bent but didn't break, O was nearly unstoppable against what I thought was a decent D when I saw them beat up ND a few weeks ago. I guess that's why they play the games. #1 Graham for Pitt is a beast, and a nice TE named Graham, and their coach is named Graham. Am I detecting a pattern here?

The pattern is that all of their names are Graham.karen lotz;916633 wrote:Huh?

I sort of figured. That wasn't my most serious post ever.karen lotz;916642 wrote:I wasn't referring to that.
I thought it before tonight, but after seeing most of this one it's clear that West Virginia should definitely roll through the Big East.

Not sure if this makes ND's win over Pitt look better...or the loss to USF look worse.
Ugh.

Yeah I don't know. How many yards did Graham end up with tonight? USF had no answer for him. ND held him to 89 yards with 44 coming on one play. Ugh pretty much sums it up.

I am not convinced of this yet. First year head coach, no running game, poor special teams..... I don't think the Eeers fans can purchase their tickets to the Orange Bowl just yet. The thing about the BE is that since 2005 (after Miami, VT and BC left) there really has not been that one team who dominated the conference on a given year, other than UC in 2009. Any one of the eight teams could beat the other on any given night. There are no powerhouses (to use a B10 reference OSU) and there are no weak sisters (again using the B10 as an example Indiana or Minnesota).Mulva;916648 wrote:I sort of figured. Maybe Karen Lotz was "huhing" the part where I said USF beat up ND. I guess in that game, the marathon weather delay special, ND nearly pulled the game out, losing 23-20. But they were down 16-0, with 3 drives ending in FG that would have put them up big if they score TDs. Good for ND for holding them (I see Lotz avatar pic). I am not a big believer in the transitive property of football (A beat B, B beat C, so A should kill C), so that's where the "that's why they play the game part comes in". Also jealous of the pic from inside of Heinz field. It did fill up alot more than that pic, although there were some really cheap tickets and alot of no shows. It was raining so I doubt much of a walkup.

Again. Huh? Do you realize Notre Dame had 5 turnovers, 4 of which were in the red zone, 3 of which were inside the 5 yard line? USF returned a fumble 96 yards for one of their tds. Notre Dame had over 500 yards of offense. USF did anything but beat Notre Dame up.
If Notre Dame would have taken care of the ball, the result would have been very similar to the Pitt/USF game.

Admittedly I did not see all 7 hours of the USF game, am more of a Pitt fan and they could well have not beat up ND. But something must have happened in there somewhere to stop drives and get turnovers, unless they were unforced, which I guess is possible but that many of them?

With the exception of the first stripped ball that was taken back for a touchdown...every other turnover was the result of bad throws, bonehead mistakes by receivers, and a muffed punt return. All except for the first were unforced turnovers. USF did not beat Notre Dame. Notre Dame beat Notre Dame in that first week of the season.Dthane;919232 wrote:Admittedly I did not see all 7 hours of the USF game, am more of a Pitt fan and they could well have not beat up ND.
