Or it worked out exactly as Leyland had planned. He had enough confidence in the staff to get it done, which they did. Yeah, it looks OK now because he can start game 1 but man, that is a an awful risky thing to do. You have your best pitcher so why not keep him available to pitch in a deciding game? Especially with a BP session scheduled for that day.
Personally, I think the two best teams left are playing right now in the Tigers and Rangers. Tigers won the season series and both teams have been hot for the last month (as well as the Cards). I would love for the Tigers to get a redemption series against the Cardinals.
