First record I bought was with money given to me for my birthday. I was 3 years old and got a record player. I bought a 45 RPM single of Surfin Bird by The Trashmen. First LP I bought with money from cutting lawns was Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones.

It was Herman's Hermits. About 1965, I think. Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter was one of the key songs.

Abbey Road by The Beatles - vinyl
Chicago VI - eight track
Ironically, the first CD I ever bought was Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits - which was the last new recording issued on 8-track in the US (not counting a couple of "novelty releases" over the years).

I don't remember my first tape, I think it might have been Garth Brooks or something. My first CD was Joe Diffie - Third Rock from the Sun.

I actually do remember my first tape, now. It was R.E.M. - Out of Time. It had the song, "Losing My Religion" on it, so my parents took it from me. Gay.

I think the only record I purchased as by Dokken, quite possibly the soundtrack to one of the Nightmare on Elm street soundtracks.
As kids we found a Chuck Berry 45 that we played alot mostly because we thought the song was hilarious. My Dingaling. Classic!
First CD: I think I got into one of those CD clubs and got like 10 or so at the same time. I believe GNR Use your Illusion I and II were among them.
We also bought a Kiss 8track with an 8 track player at a garage sale. That thing worked for about 2 days before it broke.
