Hate to say it, but my prediction of a 4 loss season might not happen. This team is now looking at 5, possibly 6 losses. They just aren't very good, and young at key positions. People can get on the coaches all they want (and rightfully so), but Fickell was put into a no win situation. I and others have been saying for years that Jim Bollman is a worthless line and offensive coordinator. And he is in fact that. With the talent on the offensive line, and yes there is talent there, this scheme is just bad, always has been. Rarely do we see them knock people off the line of scrimmage (zone blocking!) and pass protection is absolutely pitiful.
I hope they clean house at seasons end, completely.

It wasn't that close. It was legal. YOu can block behind the back as long as you are within the tackles. Replay showed he was within the tackles easily. Officiating had nothing to do with the outcome. But I thought they sucked. I thought OSU got hit late at least twice on out of bounds plays, no call. Then OSU gets flagged for at least one that as very questionable. Also missed some blatent holding(take downs) on MSU line. Oh well...wouldn't have mattered anyway!

One need not look any further than Jake Stoneburner not being on the field for almost every play / using him to block in the backfield instead of using him as a primary target down field.

I blame a decent amount of this on Miller as well. Coaches shouldn't have to tell you to change up your snap count when a team is jumping it as well as MSU was on Saturday.

That isn't a big surprise. Have you seen him "operating" that offense? It's atrocious. Even for a freshman. And it's really not hard to imagine when you consider how "out-of-touch/tuned" he is when on the sidelines. Get involved with the coaches... go thru the screenprints... breakdown what's happening out there... do something... ANYTHING!

You see Miller on the sidelines and he just looks lost.

I know it's early, and I know Miller is young, but boy is he looking more like a bust than a star. I think he'll get it all figured out and be fine in the coming years, but boy he better start showing some improvements because otherwise this is going to be a looooooong 4 years.

I'm really happy with the defense. John Simon is unblockable! Howard got beat for the TD, but that's a long time to have to cover someone, and the throw was absolutely perfect. The young defense is playing very well.

Bollman is probably the #1 reason so far for the Buckeyes ineptness.

My heart really goes out to John Simon. The kid played his heart out. He was a MONSTER on almost every single play. It pains me to watch this kid go out there and leave it all on the field, and put in a performance like the one he did on Saturday, and then not win the game. There is no reason why someone who has THAT DOMINANT of a performance should not be on the winning side of the game. You don't just see people dominate like that and end up on the losing side. Performances like that almost always bring home 'W'. And Saturdays would have if it wasn't for the pathetic-ness of our OSU offense.

I knew it wouldn't take long for the Miller bashing to commence. His OC is doing him no favors, he's being put into a position to fail.

I don't think he's the answer either, especially if they aren't going to give him a gameplan to help him out. Football 101 tells you that the screen game will slow down the blitzing, yet we try none of it? Youth and bad coaching is a bad combination. Bauserman gives us the best chance if this is the kind of offense we're going to play. I would be fine with Miller if they built a gameplan around his ability.

What I am hearing is that what he does, is everything he can handle. They can't do anything else, because Miller is having a hard time understanding and running those types of plays

Not quite sure what you are smoking, but pretty sure you are not allowed to block someone in their back no matter where you are on the field. I'll need to see an official ruling on this one to believe it.

Well, if he can't throw a screen pass, he'll never be a successful college QB. Screens are easy for QB's, the offense line has the toughest part of a screen play.

There is a lot of timing for the QB too. You know why the screen pass goes incomplete? Because the QB threw it too soon. You know why it was blown up? Because the QB threw it too late.

Sure there is some timing, but it's much easier than going through multiple reads against a blitzing defense.

I stand corrected. I am utterly SHOCKED that the NCAA allows blocking in the back in ANY situation/case/scenario. That just spells INJURY waiting to occur. Shocked.

Saturday was the worst I have ever seen Ohio State play since I've started devoutly watching them in 1998. Our offense is putrid. I think our biggest problem/concern is coaching. Luke Fickell is simply in over his shoulders. He has no idea what he's doing out there, and he is not ready to lead a college football team, much less a powerhouse program like Ohio State. The best thing that can happen (at the end of this season) is to let Fickell go and bring in someone like Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, Bo Pelini, or John Gruden. We NEED one of those four guys. Period.

In letting Fickell go, that means that Jim Bollman will finally be let go too. Bollman is our offensive coordinator and I've always thought he's done an awful job. After watching last Saturday, I'm convinced that he's mentally handicapped. His offensive play calling has to be the worst in the country by far. I cannot tell you how many years Bollman has skated by just because of our staunch defenses. This year, again, we have a staunch defense, it's just that we don't have an offense this year AT ALL. Therefore, the wholes in his play calling are much more visible.

After coaching, the 2nd biggest problem is... like I've said before... we don't have a quarterback. Sr Joe Bauserman is simply not athletic enough to make a play out there, and Fr. Braxton Miller is simply not ready for college ball. These two guys look like dumb & dumber out there. Which makes me wonder... just how bad must Taylor Graham and Kenny Guiton be if they can't even sniff a minute of playing time. Bauserman throws a lame duck and Miller has happy feet.

The 3rd biggest problem for the Buckeyes has been the absence of the tattoo 5. I don't care who you are, but when you're missing your HEAD COACH (Tressel) , STARTING QB (Pryor), STARTING LT (Mike Adams), STARTING RB (Dan Herron), #1 WR (DeVier Posey), and a key member of your defense (Solomon Thomas), you're not going to be very good. Still, that shouldn't justify just how anemic our offense has been. This is OHIO STATE... we should have enough depth for people to come in and make some plays. I'm not saying we should be winning this games (because again... look at all the people we are missing at KEY positions), but we should be able to at least move the ball down the field for a drive or two. On Saturday... we couldn't do that.

Right now... the Buckeyes are sitting 3-2. I have them finishing 7-5, perhaps even 6-6 (losses to Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan, and perhaps Purdue/PSU).

I feel like we're Notre Dame .

I've said it after the Miami game and my friends didn't want to hear it. I said I felt an "ND slide" coming. It wasn't because we lost that Miami game, it was how we lost. I can handle losses, but not bad football and thats what it was....BAD football from top to bottom. It was even more apparent on Saturday.

I'll ride this season out with a "wait and see" attitude, because we do have the deck stacked against us, but we BETTER MAKE A FUCKING MOVE in the off season. I want a major shake up...clean house. They can keep Vrabel and send everyone else packing....INCLUDING Gene Smith.

Gene Smith needs to be the first to go, along with the rest of 'em. Your job as athletic director is to prevent this stuff from occurring first and foremost, minimize the damage should it occur, and polish the turd.

Why am I dumb in your estimation? Don't get me wrong, watching the team lose a game like that is hard. But for my entire Buckeye fan career, the only thing I have absolutely despised are people who sit in that stadium and boo the home team. It's a frickin' college football team. I've never liked it. And I can see a lot of it coming in a year like this. I'm not saying Ohio State is the only placethis happens, but it has been my experience that the numbskull population in the Horseshoe is higher than at many other schools.
