Mr. 300;917969 wrote:Old Rider.....1st interference call was clearly a trip. 2nd call the defender face guarded Arnold as well as mugged him before the ball arrived. On the dropped pass, I noticed your receiver never got animated about the call.....that usually means he knows it was the correct call.

And those adjustments made at half were huge. If Snyder doesn't drop a sure interception in the 1st drive, RR never score that TD. Oh well, great game by both teams.
Rule in high school football. The trip was incidental (just talked to ron Desecker regaurding that) it should have never been called. It was not a deliberate trip.

And how do you know it was incidental?:p A 6'6 TE getting loose across the middle and you're the defender...what are you taught when burnt?? Hold, grab, trip, plunder, and hope you don't get caught. He got caught...

If you get a chance 300 just watch the film. You can say with quite certainty it was not only incidental but not part of the play. Overaggressive call. If face guarding is allowed in HS football the previous call was wrong as well. I did not know that about face guarding? When did that rule change? This year. I have noticed kids doing this in practice a lot and wondered why coaches don't say anything. We are all so used to that being illegal that it is hard to not think it is a penalty? Maybe the refs fall into that category as well?

Seeing how neither play had a affect on the outcome of the game, the are subjects of opinion now. The faceguard/interference call was obvious. Brady's attempt at the catch was on the back of the defender.....because he was in the process of being tackled before the ball arrived. Did your film show that? Our film did.

Also, wonder how the RR faithful would be handling this if the teams were reversed. You would be hollering holy hell they were the right calls and you know it......that's sports!!:D

Yeah I saw the "aiding the runner" penalty that was called against ashland at west Holmes. What a homer that was!!

We also had an pass interference call on an uncatchable pass on 3rd and 15 that they ended up scoring on, but who's counting

There is no "uncatchable pass" rule in HS football.

That rule definitely does not exist at this level. I was told a kid could throw the ball in the middle of the stands and a pass intereference could still be called. Bogus as it sounds, it is the rule

That would be intentional grounding....it was called on twice tonight on Waynedale...once the RB was standing right where the ball was thrown
