You're right. I just looked, and they are pretty low...receiving only 3 votes in the AP.

It's also funny that Michigan State is ranked in one poll, and nearly ranked in another.

All three of them are free safeties though. McCarthy is the backup to Smith right now at strong safety. I know it wouldn't be much of a change, but Slaughter, Motta, or Collinsworth would have to change to strong safety to take the starting role from D-Mac. That is, IF McCarthy is back next year.

Yeah I'd like nothing more than to see him step in and play a lot next year. I followed him from a far when he was in HS. He had a neck injury at the end of his senior season, right?

Correct. In the playoffs against ASVSM, he made a play to break up a pass and messed up a vertebrae in his neck. The kid is a tough sonofabitch, though. He actually finished the game...playing both ways throughout the rest of the game.

Just got back from the game.

I don't know how it looked on the television, but Notre Dame completely dominated it from the start. Never, ever in doubt.

We're up 35-3, why won't they let Golson see the field? All Crist has proven is he doesn't deserve to start, so we use him for mop up duty instead of letting a frosh show what he can do with his particular skill set?

I honestly could see golson starting next year over Rees if Rees doesn't stop turning the ball over. This year is golson learning the offense and reads, I think he will be a stud in this offense

He hasn't officially, as Kelly says there is still the possibility of he or Hendrix playing. If I was putting money on it, I'd think Golson wouldn't see the field this year unless there are injuries to the other 3 QBs.

Video from the game, at the end they show every running play Notre Dame ran. Most rushing yards since 2003. Ridiculous how easily Wood and Gray got to the corner and how often pulling linemen were able to get out and into space. Best game by the oline in a long time.

Agreed. Hopefully a sign of good things to come throughout the rest of the year. I've read reports that Gray is just as fast, if not faster than Wood. He's obviously not as shifty, but he's damn fast once he hits the edge or the second level. Gray has the makings and build of a nice NFL back.
