Colorado had it coming down their leg the entire game

I'm not going to put much stock in this game. Colorado is terrible. There were still quite a few missed tackles and dropped balls.

I think Braxton Miller just needed this to build his confidence though... hopefully next week doesn't ruin that.

The same games that seem like they have a good chance to be a loss before this one (Nebraska, Wisconsin, and the obligatory "should have won but didn't" blown game) still seem just as realistic.
Which would put them right at that 8-4 and maybe 9-3 mark he mentioned.

Yeah. I didn't really think anyone was thinking less than 8-4 though.

I was focused more upon the fact that this game shouldn't get one's hopes up a ton; no reason to really feel any better or worse. Still seems like an 8-4 situation.

I agree with that part. Colorado can't beat anyone on the road.

I think this is a 9-3 team though. They'll probably lose one they shouldn't, but I think they'll win one (Wisconsin or Nebraska) that they probably shouldn't too.

Some very poor tackling out there again, and both Sweat and Klein simply aren't that fast. Teams that use screens and tight ends (like Wisconsin) will likely kill OSU's defense. Especially if the tackling doesn't get any better.

It's too bad Fickell wasted much of three games not letting Miller get most of the reps. He could have used that extra time. When time comes to make a decision about Fickell's future, that decision will probably be the main one I point to when I say he isn't the man for the job.

Well we got the win. OSU has always been about winning(both on and off the field) so I'm in a good mood. We are 3-1 in our worst season in a decade, and that's why we are #1.

Colorado is still pretty bad though and that's the problem. Really they wouldn't do well against Toledo who probably should of beaten the Buckeyes. With that said I still don't think OSU is the best team in Ohio, BG would probably beat them as they looked very impressive against Miami today and could of won 44-23. Still I am incredibly worried next week is the start of a 4 game losing streak in all honesty. This seems like a 3-5 B1G team at best

So BG beating up on Miami means they would "probably beat" OSU?

Ehh well if you watched the game they looked actually extremely physical and dominating. Also they have an excellent receiving corps and a pretty good decision maker at QB. OSU wouldn't blow them away in the trenches and that's the only reason they really were able to beat UT. Idk if Braxton would do well against an aggressive D like them either. Ohio State really didn't really put the brakes on a UT offense with one gamebreaker and a sorta mess at QB

+1

Exactly. I never understood why Bauserman even got a shot. He's bad and proved it. Can you sit here in tell me that in practice Bauserman looked head and shoulders better than Miller? I can guarantee that he didn't. So then why start a 27 year old senior over a true freshman in a year that will probably be down anyway if they are close? Poor coaching decision imo.

Agreed. You start your "future" and get him some reps even if it means writing off a season that was, quite frankly, doomed from the beginning.

I still think that when Posey & Co. return, the Buckeyes can go 8-4 or even 9-3 but they would have had a much better chance of doing so had Miller started the first few games.

9-3 or even as "bad" as 8-4 would be pretty damned good under the circumstances. It wouldn't be enough to save Fickell's job as head coach at OSU, but he could end up head coaching for a mid-major school ala Frank Solich. ;)

Wow this is absolutely absurd. Bowling Green beats up on Miami of Ohio, an 0-3 team that offers no basis of comparison to Ohio State in the first place, and all of a sudden they are good enough to beat the the Buckeyes. I mean your probably right that loss to a powerhouse like Wyoming probably showed they can play with anybody.

Who are you to say OSU is better for beating Colorado by 20? Haha folks this Colorado team will be lucky to win a second game this year. And the fact Miami handled the Bucks scares me, we looked scared and lost in that place. What the heck is gonna happen when they go to a place with an actual true fan base?

Wyoming didn't do all that bad against Nebraska really. And BG absolutely dominated Wyoming but committed 6 turnovers and that's why they lost. Win you still almost win a game despite going a -5 in the TO department, you're not too bad. At the end of the day OSU should of lost to Toledo

I posted one in the ND/MSU thread that should work. Length of time is debatable but IMO should be at least through week 10 of the HS football season.

Miller looked good. The defense looked good. When Herron, Posey, and Adams return, 9-3 seems right.

Change it first and then we can discuss.
