Meh, if you use that logic you could say fans booing a running play instead of passing the ball is them making a statement about the running back; that he's not good enough to get the job done.

It's not necessarily true.

Honestly, I've been at OSU games where they booed loudly and virtually every instance had to do with coaching decisions either regarding plays or personnel. I'd say that's the case here as well.

for the most part, yes, but against UT they were booing Bauserman, just as they booed Boeckman a couple of years ago....just sayin'

I get what you guys are saying, but this was immediately following a Bauserman throw into the stands. There was no mistake about it, they were booing Bauserman.

I'd argue most were booing the fact that Bauserman was playing instead of Miller, and the coaching decision that led to it. OSU fans don't hate Bauserman...they just want Miller to play, instead.

If Bauserman starts on Saturday and boos reign down (which will happen if he does start) do you honestly believe they are booing Joe and not Fickell for making that decision? I think I'm a pretty typical OSU fan and I would be booing the coach for his decision. I have absolutely no antipathy toward Bauserman -- I simply want Miller to play because he gives us the best chance to win in my view.

Of course he said this. I wouldn't expect otherwise. He's not going to completely throw Bauserman under the bus. I guarantee you, though, that if Miller is playing well and OSU is scoring, Bauserman won't see the field until late in the game, if then.

Good move by Fickell I think he has a high chance succeeding against a shitty Colorado defense. By Nebraska he will be much more improved. Let's hope he goes in with the hot hand and Bauserman doesn't see the field until we are up 45-0.

At this point Bauserman is what he is. Miller has unknown potential and its time to build for the future.

Cheering is the adult equivalent of saying "Yayyyyyyyyy!", so that's not a viable option. They should probably just make comments amongst themselves such as "That was a nice pass. I'm glad he saw the open receiver" or "It's unfortunate that he missed that tackle".

No one in their right mind would BOOO their boss in a meeting due to a decision he made, regardless if he was in the meeting or not.

Fickell isn't anyone's boss, and if anything he works for the University, fans and donors. Executives and politicians get booed by their owners and constituents often.

Booing is a way for individuals to be heard whose voices would otherwise be lost in a crowd of more than 100,000. Now, would an individual say to Fickell (for example): You should be starting Braxton Miller and not Bauserman, if given a chance?

I sure would and I'd bet most fans would.

Your last sentence makes no sense. Fickell isn't the boss of any fan who has paid to get in the stadium.

Of the 10's of thousands of boo birds in the Shoe the only ones you know that are booing are the ones in close proximity to you. Of the ten's of thousands the only ones you actually know by name of are the ones you came with or if you have season tickets you might know a few in the near vicinity.

It makes perfect sense. Fickell is the boss of the team you are a fan of. Many people when talking about Ohio State say "we" instead Ohio State. That's how close many fans perceive themselves to be. Booing is a derisive invective directed at the "boss" of the team. I don't know any business or company that doesn't preach "team" at work. When at work among your "team" who in the hell would would be so stupid to make a derisive invective to your boss's face or near someone who might let the "boss" know who is "booing" him concerning a decision he made.

As originally specified, booing or expressing a derisive invective is 100% about anonymity. Irregardless of who the boss is or what the team is. No one with any intellect would boo in the face of the individual the boo bird is unhappy with.

Who is the "boss" over the Ohio State football team, managers and coaches if it isn't Fickell??? As in a large organization the one at the top might not give director orders to everyone, but he makes all of the final decisions or delegates authority. Yes executives and politicians also get booed...BUT the KEY is ANONYMITY. Boo birds boo from afar not in face of those they are unhappy with.

ANONYMITY.......has anyone every booed someone in the face? If so did they get punched in the mouth, shoved to the ground or lost their job?
