LSU is pretty bad offensively, but they're nasty defensively. The LSU - Bama game is going to be hideously ugly to watch, but from a defensive perspective there might be more NFL talent on the field for the 2 teams combined than any game I can remember seeing.

On the defensive side of the ball, absolutely. Offensively there might only be a couple NFL players combined lol

A bunch of lineman. Maybe 4 skill players. No QB's.

Im not saying LSU is an offensive juggernaut, cause they arent. But they do have around 350 total yards of offense, with 8 minutes to go, on the road at night versus the #25 team in the country. They arent horrible as some people are saying. They arent great, but they arent horrible.

Big thing is, they are good enough to win if their defense shows up each week. Cause that is their money making unit.

Lets see......
LSU beating two ranked teams on the road, check
In 3 games, holding teams to an average running total of 35 yards a game. Including 2 high scoring offenses, check
Averaging 36 points a game, check
A record of 3-0, check
The best defense in college football, check

Sounds like a championship team to me. Defense wins titles. Just ask Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Oregon what they think.

LSU may not win it all, but for those who say their offense is awful, it's no worse than what they had when they won their title 4 years ago and it's very similar to what Alabama had 2 years ago. Their backs aren't Ingram/Richardson, but they are tough.

Also, impressed with their special teams. Replacing Jasper was big and that kid has been automatic thus far. Will definitely need him in a few games this year for sure.

Disagree. There are plenty of skill players on those two teams. They just aren't in the greatest position to shine. Put them in another offense, say Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida, etc...and they are household names.

Spencer Ware
Rueben Randle
Odell Beckham
Russell Shepard (if he ever comes back)
Marquis Maze
Kenny Hilliard
Deangelo Peterson
Trent Richardson

Alabama may have some other younger guys, but still.

LSU gets R. Sheppard back next week and are missing other players including a QB. Dont expect the offense to get 400 yards a game. This is Les Miles we are talking about here. Smashmouth football, and letting the defense keep the other teams offense off the field. LSU has plenty of depth too at most positions.

Az, I answered your question without even trying, about R Shep.....lol.

What is his role going to be? Definitely a guy who can be used in 4 or 5 different ways, and could be huge for some trick plays or change of pace scenarios that lead to some big wins.

Alot of people on this topic thinks 361 yards of offense is bad against a ranked team. :rolleyes:What about holding a team that was the leading rushing team of the SEC (averaging 321 on the ground) to 51 yards? Is that bad too?

You're an idiot. Truly a fucking dunce. You give all SEC fans a bad rep. It's a shame because having lived in LA for 2 years and change its really not bad, but for you to be some of the people's only impression of an SEC fan by posting here its a shame.

not all of the post, just this part

Why?

Exhibit A:
Laley23;898032 wrote:Im not saying LSU is an offensive juggernaut, cause they arent. Exhibit B:

Exhibit C:
Laley23;897972 wrote:LSU could have 17 pts. Their offense isnt great, but it isnt terrible. Especially since they have a back-up QB running the show.

Their defense they can ride to the Ws all year long though. They are tough!
Exhibit D:
Hb31187;897942 wrote:How many fucking zone reads is MSU gonna run ebfore they realize they cant run them vs this D line?

And lol for a #3 ranked team, LSU is pretyt pathetic on offense, even if they are moving the ball a bit here
Exhibit E:
j_crazy;897893 wrote:Sweet fucking int. Wow.
Go pick a fight somewhere else. No one mentioned anything remotely negative about LSU's defense. You are poking the bear. Then you'll bitch and moan when everyone teams up you.

Obviously you dont know how to read or put things together. Im saying if you guys think 361 yards of offense is bad vs. a ranked team, you are basically clueless. That would be just as dumb as saying LSU's defense is boring. Read between the lines.

No one said anything about the LSU defense. They are just plain nasty. But don't act as though 361 yards against MSU is a huge deal. I mean LSU does have enough offense to win a title if the defense plays at that level and they are solid in the kicking game, but Memphis had 338 yards against the Bulldogs and Auburn put up 381. I wouldn't call those teams good offensively.

361 yds of total offense really isn't that much for a college football team.

LSU averages 344 yds of offense. That ranks them at 88th in the country. Georgia, who's schedule is about on par with LSU's, averages 405 yds per game. Keep in mind that LSU has played a patsy and is one of just a handful of teams who's average is of 3 games instead of 2.

Face it, their offense is a game manage type of offense, while the defense wins them the game. You really think that 19 pts is enough to win a game without a GREAT defense? Come on man.

Who hasnt played a patsy? And who has played 2 ranked teams already like LSU? LSU isnt known for their offense lately. And well no duh, its their defense that carries them. They have enough offense though for what their defense does. As Ive said over and over, defense wins titles. And LSU has the defense and offense combination to win a title. Reminds me of the 2003 team. The winner of the Bama/LSU game will probably win the title. Probably the 2 best defenses in the country.

1. I already told you Georgia has played Boise State and South Carolina.... TWO count them TWO teams that are in the top 10!!! They have better offensive numbers that LSU and have had as tough if not tougher schedule to date.

3. My point is that LSU's average involves 2 ranked teams and a patsy. They have played 3 games so far and average 361 yds. I can guarantee that they will probably drop tomorrow in total offense ranking because everyone else will have played 3 games.

4. No one is disagreeing with you that LSU's defense is one of if not the best in the country. You're right, the offense doesn't have to do too much. That doesn't negate the fact that they're not that good on offense. They have the defense to win a title as long as the offense doesn't mess up. LSU's team reminds me of the Ravens, when they won the Super Bowl. The defense carried the offense to a title. If LSU wins this year, it will be because the defense carried the team and picked up the slack for the terrible offense.

5. This is why people on here get pissed at you. Although people are agreeing with you on the big picture, you thread shitt about something that you know to be correct. Nobody said LSU was bad, they said the offense was bad, but the defense is good enough to make up for it. Deal With It.

But the offense isnt bad. They wear you down with their 2 225 pound backs. They dont have to pass for 300 yards a game to be a good offense. And people are going off of one game. Sorry, but every team has a day where they dont score alot. Remember the buckeyes vs PSU game a few years ago? Did that mean OSU had a horrible offense?
