I know you're a cell phone guy, would they grandfather me in if they cap the data plans? If not, I see no reason to stay with them.
More than likely they will grandfather you in.

The downside though is that Sprint has a history of grandfathering someone in...until they upgrade their phone again. When they changed to their new plans, they allowed people to keep their old plans. However, if you wanted to upgrade to a newer smartphone, they were forcing you to change your plan at that time. So you would be grandfathered in when the plan changes. But if you decided to upgrade your phone after the unlimited went away, there's a chance they would limit the devices you could choose from.

In Cincy as well, and I actually feel the same. Was messing around on a 3g phone the other day and I had just not realized how much faster 4g was. A lot larger difference than I thought there was. Now, its like saying a 4.3 40 is much quicker than a 4.42 40, but there was still a noticeable difference.

I download a lot of podcasts, and 4G is about 4-5x faster on a 15MB download. Now is that worth $10/month? Thats iffy with as much as I use wifi.

I'm getting an iPhone regardless, but I'm torn on whether or to get the iPhone 4, or spring for the 4s. Does anyone know, with AT&T, do they allow you to have free iPhone upgrades, without signing a new contract? Well, not free, but at contract price?

You don't get the 2 year contract price if you don't sign a 2 year contract

What about Verizon? I used to have Alltel, but when Verizon took over they grandfathered in my old unlimited plan. Do you think they will try to screw me now when I get a new phone?

Hyde Park. I believe I have 4G available but I just use wifi at home and 3G when out and about. The vast majority of my phone use while I'm out of the house is just email/twitter so I don't really need 4G. Sometimes when I'm at Reds games and the service gets bogged down I'll switch over to 4G for twitter but my battery won't last me an entire game with 4G on.

Get the S. It's not worth saving $100 to get a year old piece of tech that you're stuck with for the next 2 years.

If we made a grand a week off a website then $100 would be nothing too.

I've heard how much money websites dealing with student-teacher hookups generate.

I honestly don't understand the need to stream hours of video or spend a bunch of time browsing the internet on ones phone. I imagine 4G would be useful for college kids killing time between classes or something, but for probably 90% of phone users, 4G is just the newest technology they want, even though they don't need it.

Streaming video/web browsing is nice if you commute using public transportation - I tend to spend most of my commute browsing the interwebs.

Give it time. I'm betting you're already making more than the _ucknuts crew is, since nobody goes there, and since their Alexa rating is below OC's.

Only in Malaysia.

Owning an online business that is very media-driven right now, 4G is imperative for me.

Also true. People who travel a lot can benefit greatly from 4G.

I want to go ahead and order a case, and was wondering which ones people liked for the 4's. Leaning toward the Otterbox Defender.

4S will be my next iFone. I've had the 3GS for exactly 2 years now, and it's barely breathing. Probably gonna preorder in the morning and have it ready to roll on the 14th.

A dual processor is a pretty big deal. It may take 6 months, perhaps even a year, for apps to really exploit it, but I wouldn't want to be stuck with the old tech for 2 years.

Also, the dual-core will improve internet performance a good bit, rendering faster. As for 3G, the problem is, especially in larger cities, the signal (even on VZW) can bog down or be so weak that it takes an eternity to load, and that speed difference is huge even for the occasional browsing (also matters for using something like Google Nav). Why be forced to wait 30 seconds for google search to load, then 30 seconds to do the search, then another 30 to go to the web of the restaurant, then another 30 waiting for directions to load? Granted, I just hold search and then speak "navigate to Starbucks"...but the dual-core and LTE make a significant difference.

I hope you're not thinking that the dual core is an innovation as far as phones go.

If you're just speaking on the performance increase in regards to the iPhone 4 vs 4s then yes you're right.

Understand, but the performance is why I wouldn't get single core at this point. May not be noticeable right now, but give it a few months.

Not sure what people were expecting, but other than lacking LTE the 4S is pretty much on par with anything out there. Until these phones get enough power to actually be capable of dual booting Windows or something, it's pretty much overkill beyond this (save for some people hoping to play PS3 games on it, I suppose).

The IPhone camera is pretty good, but for the most part the other cameras mostly suck - they throw in a few more megapixels and all it does is take more detailed shitty pictures. Camera is about the only place I see to differentiate now. NFC has potential, and voice recognition is mostly a software thing.

Griffin has nice cases too. There is one with a clear back cover so you can see the back of your phone.

As did I, plus a free 3GS for the wife. I went with white. Don't know why, but I went with white.
