For those of you who had and sold your iPhone 4; what were you able to get for yours? I was able to sell mine for $320, but I also include the original box, and the ear buds and power cable and adapter from my 4S.

I live in a small town, am on wifi mostly, and on "extend network" usually any other time. Was on AT&T 3G for the first time today, and while it was faster, drained the battery like a mofo.

Your apps are probably still running on your phone. Do you know how to turn them off? Most people don't, and it drains their battery.

I did nothing different than normal. No real way to "quit" apps.

Double click the home button (the circle button). The running apps should appear at the bottom. Press and hold onto an app and wait until they start shaking. Click the "-" above the apps to close them out.

And then if they'd just add widgets and location based settings IOS might be worth looking at.

Well.... I made the plunge.

I officially purchased the iPhone 4S from a Verizon store on Sunday as a Birthday gift to myself. I was torn between whether I should get the 16 GB or the 32 GB version. I ended up picking the 16 GB. My thoughts were... save the $100 or so on this phone, especially since I'll probably be buying the screen protector covers and some type of case and car charger. THEN, when the iPhone 5 comes out in a yr or so, I can use one of my family members 'free upgrade' and purchase the iPhone 5 - and if I need more storage, I can purchase the 32 GB then.

My thoughts also were that with the whole new 'iCloud thing' and being able to store/access music and pictures from the cloud, this was another argument for not needing the 32 GB. What does the Chatter think? Did I make a wise decision? I have a 32 GB iPod (like 2nd generation), and I only have about 9 GB of music on there right now (I think). I looked at my BlackBerry and here's my stats...

- Free Space: 1.7 GB
Media Card
- Total Space: 14.8 GB
- Free Space: 14.0 GB

So... I think I made the right decision... right?









Now... for the second part...


When I purchased the iPhone 4S from Verizon, when they were ringing me up, they said something like my old text plan was not valid with this phone (because they didn't have that option to select; so they had to bump me up to an additional $5/mo plan. On top of that, they talked me into the insurance/theft/etc. plan for an additional $10/mo. So... my phone bill is now looking at a potential $15/mo.

Luckily, I knew the store manager, and she said that if I just give her a call, she can file a retroactive claim or something like that (I wasn't listening that closely), and she thinks she might be able to get me BACK on my old texting policy/plan so that I am not spending an additional $5/mo.

My question is... does anyone know about this? Am I getting ripped off here? I kinda think so.

Also... what are the thoughts on the "insurance plan."? Do I *really* need that? I'm thinking now. I'm not one who really drops there phone very much. If I do, it's only a handful of times a year. Plus, like I mentioned above... I'm planning on buying a protective case - speaking of which... anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?????

I've had an iphone over 3 years, and have had a case on my phone since I got it. I've dropped it many times and in the cases have never had an issue. For me the insurance isn't worth it. But if you're a clumsy idiot then the insurance plan would make sense.

Do you really need to upgrade to an iPhone 5 after having the 4s for less than a year? I'll never understand why people always have to have the latest and greatest phone. I'm fairly well off and I have had the same phone for 4+ years that can't do anything other than call and text.

Also, I wouldn't get the insurance. You clearly aren't worried about money if you can just drop $300+ on a phone every 6 months.

Insurance for phones is something nobody wants to pay for but they are glad they have it when they need it. I would get the insurance as well

I opted against the insurance. I had my other iPhone for 2 years, and it doesn't have a scratch on it, so I'm pretty confident that this one will be the same way. I use an Otterbox Defender case.

I think you ARE knowledgeable about mobile devices in general, but for some unexplained reason, you obviously have a slighted view on Apple and their iPhone.
