and a front office that made the right moves.


I just like to sit back, drink a couple of beers and think about that 95 Indians team...still can't figure out how they lost in the World Series.

The 1995 season was almost the perfect storm. The Tribe was playing in a new stadium, had a nice mix of young and old talent. Good pitching, great hitting, and a manager who knew the game.

1995 was a rocket launcher for Tribe fans, even today, some people who could have cared less about the Indian's prior to 1995 are still pretty die hard fans.

Shame to see that wave of new found fandom wither away because of the ownership.

Maybe someday.

It is a shame...and I vowed to not spend a dime at the stadium until ownership changed(I failed..I spent many dimes). I just want to see them let Grady go and make a splash in the offseason with a decent signing. Prove to me that they care. Not a bullshit move like trading away the franchise for a mediocre pitcher because he has a friendly contract for the next couple of years.

Also, the 95 Indians were awesome to me, because I grew up a fan of the mid 80s Indians. I loved listening(I could hardly ever watch them..no cable) to them when they had Joe Carter, Mel Hall, Julio Franco, and Cory Snyder.

I have many a fond memory in the old stadium, used to go there often with my father as a kid. Later when I was a young adult my firends and I would travel there on many a summer's eve to watch a game. I have been to The Jake/Prog 4 times since it opened. Initially getting tickets to a game was quite a feat, then when all the suburban yuppie types fell out of favor with the team, I, like you, refused to give my hard earned dollars to an organization who simply didn't care.

I guess it was different in the 70's, 80's and early 90's, we had no expectations for the team, we were just glad to be able to see a professional game. Once the move took place, going to a game lost a lot of luster for me. I would have loved to have been there for the 1995 and 1997 World Series, but greed, fair weathered fans and the combination of the Dolans and Bud Selig ruined baseball for me. I used to be a huge, I mean huge baseball fan. Now I never pay attention to the sport any more.

You are right though about the "perfect storm". The Browns were gone, so more people paid attention to the Tribe. The young talent was unheard of and the new stadium was a ticket seller. They combined all that young talent with some great veterens like Murray, Hershiser, and few others...it was a great work by John Hart.

I've been a fan since the early 60's, so from that perspective, having witnessed far worse teams than the one they are currently fielding, I rather enjoyed yhis season. I was pretty sour on this team before the season started.....much happier now.

Had the best all-around 2nd baseman ever IMO.....definately the best defensive.
