Game over. Defense wins championships. Where is Scarlet who is thinking LSU isnt a top 15 team?

Nope. I just hate how teams like Oregon and Oklahoma get hyped up all the time for their offenses, but yet, they always lose the big games against defensive teams.SportsAndLady;882706 wrote:LSU won a championship tonight?

I agree, people love flashy gimmicky offenses and hype those teams up.cats gone wild;882710 wrote:Nope. I just hate how teams like Oregon and Oklahoma get hyped up all the time for their offenses, but yet, they always lose the big games against defensive teams.

Kinda feel bad for De'Anthony Thomas. He'll bounce back and be a household name by the time he graduates I bet. Hes electric, just needs to learn how to hold the damn ball

Yes, but Les Miles always cost you at least one game a year with his retardationcats gone wild;882703 wrote:Game over. Defense wins championships. Where is Scarlet who was thinking LSU isnt a top 15 team?

Agree with cats on Oregon. It's disgusting how year after year they get hyped as being this juggernaut that simply can't be beat (at least the announcers act like they don't want them to be), and then they face a good defensive team that plays smash mouth football -- and their vaunted offense isn't so vaunted.
Ohio State proved it, Auburn proved it and now LSU.
But Oregon will probably whipsaw through a conference that mostly doesn't care about or play defense (except maybe for Stanford) and they talking heads will be wagging their tongues about them again when bowl season rolls around.
Hilarious.

Yeah Oregon's style sells jerseys and gets high school kids excited, but it isn't built to beat NFL-esque competition. If you stop their run, they're finished. Thomas sucks at throwing the ball and their WRs are fairly ordinary

Hes not a NFL type Qb no...but 30 tds 9 ints last year and 2800 yards isnt exactly what id consider "sucking"jordo212000;883118 wrote:Yeah Oregon's style sells jerseys and gets high school kids excited, but it isn't built to beat NFL-esque competition. They need to recruit bigger linemen instead of worrying about speed, speed, speed for every position. Oregon has failed against all big OOC opponents lately (Boise, OSU, AUB, and LSU). Oklahoma is going to be the hyped-high scoring team this year that will get beat in a BCS bowl game against a defensive team. Book it. Same thing every year. OKL, OSU, Tex, Wisc, Oreg are some of the teams lately that were big on offense until they played a good defense and got beat.

Have you watched him play? Dude is not a good throwing QB at all. I don't care what his stats are

Yeah, 62% completion, 3 to 1 TD to INT ratio and a little under 3000 yards in his first year starting on a national championship runner up team....hes badjordo212000;883286 wrote:Have you watched him play? Dude is not a good throwing QB at all. I don't care what his stats are

Look at the system he plays in, anyone could put up those numbers in that system with that speed and talent around him. To be honest they didn't deserve to play in that title game, there were better teams than them last year.Hb31187;883291 wrote:

Look dude, I have no problem with Oregon or Darron Thomas, I'm just calling a spade a spade. He isn't a great throwing QB and that offense isn't built to beat teams with fast/strong defenses. You have to be able to throw to beat a team like Auburn and LSU because the smoke and mirrors option stuff isn't going to beat them.Hb31187;883291 wrote:

You can show his stats until you are blue in the fact. But at the end of the day, Oregon struggles to beat these types of teams. (Boise, Ohio State, LSU, and Auburn) have all made Oregon's offense look very pedestrian.
Also, I never said he was bad. I said he sucks at throwing a football and isn't going to throw his team to victory against upper echelon teams. I take it you didn't watch his game last night very closely. His balls were all over the place. He was rarely on target.

Masoli played there the year before and put up 1/2 the touchdowns passing.robj55;883459 wrote:Look at the system he plays in, anyone could put up those numbers in that system with that speed and talent around him. They threw for 363 against Auburn and 240 vs LSU.jordo212000;883465 wrote:Look dude, I have no problem with Oregon or Darron Thomas, I'm just calling a spade a spade. But against the other teams with Masoli playing, yes they struggled passing mightily, and it cost em. They didnt lose to LSU bc they couldnt pass though, they lost to LSU bc a true freshman fumbled twice and barner muffed that punt for a TD

Just throwing for yards doesn't mean anything. Carson Palmer threw for a lot of yards last year and he sucked.Hb31187;883568 wrote:They threw for 363 against Auburn and 240 vs LSU.

You're missing the point. Thomas is a good college QB. He is going to win a lot of games this season at Oregon. He will never lead them to a National Championship or be an NFL starting QB because he has poor throwing mechanics and atrocious throwing accuracy. He is a spread option QB
