Just saw on the bottom line that Oklahoma says it has received attention from multiple conferences in the past few weeks and they expect to make a decision in the next 3 weeks. Decision could be made in as little as 3 days though. PAC-12 and SEC?

Looks like the BigXII will be the first to fold in the Super conference realignment.
Big Ten better step up and get some of the cream off the top.

as long as the big 12 continues to let texas do whatever the hell they want, the slow death of the conference will continue. it'd be stupid of oklahoma not to at least explore their options

Yup they need to step up and grab Oklahoma. Oklahoma wants the SEC though and with A&M creating an odd number, it seems logical to assume they got an invite from the SEC.
If they didnt we need to get them. PAC12 is interested but Oklahoma doesn't seem gung ho about going west

From a standpoint of where they have the best chance to have success the Pac 12 is their best bet though imo.

i've always thought the oklahoma schools are going to be a package deal in this conference realignment shuffle and thus both wind up in the pac 12ytownfootball;881239 wrote:From a standpoint of where they have the best chance to have success the Pac 12 is their best bet though imo.

Screw Oklahoma St. I only worry about myself if I am Oklahoma.

I never thought I'd see the day when Oklahoma/Texas/Nebraska were not in the same conference, obviously Texas screwed the pooch in that regard. I would have thought that Oklahoma would keep at least one of their big rivalries in tact and consider the Big 10. Now I'm beginning to think they'll look to where they will be most competitive and have the best chance at success post season. Of course, with all things being "equal" revenue wise. Not sure what the break down share wise would be Pac12/SEC/Big10, but in the end it will be pretty similar I'm willing to bet.dazedconfused;881244 wrote:i've always thought the oklahoma schools are going to be a package deal in this conference realignment shuffle and thus both wind up in the pac 12

I have some friends that go to OU and the fact is I can't see it being a Big 10 school. I've heard it has a definite southern feel, very different from the rural midwestern one that Nebraska carries and Oklahoma doesn't really fit in with the west coast schools as it's just so conservative. I think the SEC is a great option for them or shoot just go independent

Oklahoma would be a great pick-up for the Big 10, especially if they get Missouri to fill in the southern midwest.

I remember when the Pac 12 was going to add Texas. It was pretty much a done deal until Texas told them at the end they still wanted in, but they also wanted their own network. I know that guy says 'it can be worked out', but how do you work something like a 20-year 300 million contract with ESPN/LHN out? Any conference that adds Texas (if it happens) better get ready for them to call the shots, because they won't have it any other way. That's why when fans of the Big Ten mention them I chuckle. The Big Ten has a pretty good track record of everyone being treated as equals, and everyone having a say. That is NOT what Texas has in mind at all though.SportsAndLady;882273 wrote:OU and Texas to the Pac 16?

The Longhorn Network has to go away before Texas can join the SEC, Pac-12, or even the Big 10.
All that greed really screwed them in the end. If they want to keep the network, they're going to have to go indie IMO

I read something a while back that talked about how the network may not be such a big deal to the PAC because the conference's TV plan includes regional packages anyway. Texas would probably have to give up a little, but the PAC seems like a reasonable destination.jordo212000;883128 wrote:The Longhorn Network has to go away before Texas can join the SEC, Pac-12, or even the Big 10.

If Texas can keep the Longhorn Network and join a conference, they'll jump on it right away. The revenue from the network is great, but the network's most important aspect is attracting recruits. You attract recruits, you'll never have a "down era"

Texas signs 99 percent of its players from the state of Texas so I doubt this will play a huge role in any decision. It will all come down to dollars and control. If the PAC 12 will give in on some things, they'll get UT. If not, Texas will likely end up an independent after the Big 12 folds.SportsAndLady;883346 wrote:If Texas can keep the Longhorn Network and join a conference, they'll jump on it right away. The Pac-12 shouldn't "give" on anything. They have all of the leverage. The SEC and Big 10 are not letting Texas come in with the Longhorn Network. They'll have to get rid of it. Those 2 conferences are healthy and have zero chance of folding because they are egalitarian. Letting Texas walk in with the LHN assures that they end up like the Big 12. It's not happening.Writerbuckeye;883477 wrote:Texas signs 99 percent of its players from the state of Texas so I doubt this will play a huge role in any decision. Texas can bluff and act like they are going elsewhere all they want, but the fact is, if they want a conference, they can't have their network. (Unless the Pac-12 stupidly caves). If Texas is desperate enough to have the network, they are 100% going to be an indie.
The only way the Longhorn Network could work is if Texas takes the money they would get from the contract and distributes it to the other conference members as well. (Probably won't happen, but should). If Texas was smart they'd do that. They'd get the conference affiliation, some extra money, and the blessing of a conference for 24 hour a day exposure for one of its members. That alone would make up from the money lost from distribution to other members.

Heard a few rumors today...obviously these are JUST rumors, but still interesting to hear everything out there:
Texas turned down the PAC 12
Arizona and Arizona State are interested in joining the Big 12

Damn, that would be wild. Would they just be trading places with the Oklahomas or would the PAC have to go on a search to get back to 12?SportsAndLady;885421 wrote:Heard a few rumors today...obviously these are JUST rumors, but still interesting to hear everything out there:

wow, can't see the arizona schools leaving the pac 12 and especially leaving for the big 12's revenue distribution set-up. would certainly be a curveball to the process.
i've really started to become uneasy about the "pac 16" notion. was on the superconference bandwagon but now i'm hoping the big 12 can get it together and keep the status quo

There is no way Arizona or Arizona St. leaves the PAC-12 for the sinking ship that is the Big 12
