The Pac-12 shouldn't "give" on anything. They have
all of the leverage. The SEC and Big 10 are not letting Texas come in with the Longhorn Network. They'll have to get rid of it. Those 2 conferences are healthy and have zero chance of folding because they are egalitarian. Letting Texas walk in with the LHN assures that they end up like the Big 12. It's not happening.
Texas can bluff and act like they are going elsewhere all they want, but the fact is, if they want a conference, they can't have their network. (Unless the Pac-12 stupidly caves). If Texas is desperate enough to have the network, they are 100% going to be an indie.
The only way the Longhorn Network could work is if Texas takes the money they would get from the contract and distributes it to the other conference members as well. (Probably won't happen, but should). If Texas was smart they'd do that. They'd get the conference affiliation, some extra money, and the blessing of a conference for 24 hour a day exposure for one of its members. That alone would make up from the money lost from distribution to other members.
