As I noted in the other thread, if the Hilltoppers had a passing game they would be up by two scores right now. They are running the ball down the Wildcats throat. Three minutes left in the 3rd quarter, WKU football.

Without question.

I just noticed the game is being played in Nashville. WTF?? Did not realize the Commonwealth annexed Nashville, TN.

75 total yards of offense for UK through three quarters agianst a bad Sun Belt opponent. I hate to see what the score would be if UK were playing a quality opponent.

Is Kentucky's quarterback as bad as his numbers?

What's funny about the pick was the UK lineman nearly had his second catch of the night. How many times has that ever happened?

Still 7-3 with 7:56 left in the game.

Legit clock question here.

WKU had the ball with :23 left in the game and got a holding penalty called on them. Per new rule, does :10 HAVE to come off of the clock, or does the other team get the choice.

If it automatically comes off of the clock, then the officials were wrong because it didn't.

If the other team (In this case Kentucky, who is up 14-3) gets to choose, why in the world doesn't Joker Phillips take the :10 off? <---Not looking for answers, just thinking out loud on this second part.

I watched the second half. About midway through the 4th quarter I stopped and realized how desperate I am for the season to start.

I'll add that it's kind of weird that WKU had a home game vs. the in-state big boy and goes out of state to play it. Granted the 2 biggest stadiums in Kentucky are Lexington (UK) and Louisville. However, there were MAYBE 15-20,000 in attendance at the Titans stadium tonight.

WKU's stadium holds 22,000. I think that would have sufficed.

I believe that the other team has the option to accept the penalty and run off the 10 seconds, accept the penalty and decline the 10 seconds, or decline the penalty and automatically decline the 10 seconds.

Also, there are some penalties where the 10 second run off option doesn't apply. Maybe this was one of them?

In the Wisky game they said something about the team being penalized has the option to then take a timeout and the :10 second runoff doesn't apply? Because either UNLV declined the :10 second runoff, or the above is true

That was awful. It's gonna be a long season until UK basketball gets rolling.

Maybe it was. I THOUGHT that it was any penalty on either side. It was holding, so I figured that'd warrant the 10 yds/:10.

A few thoughts. Awful game. Not even exciting to watch as a fan. Even worse crowd. UK should have just kept this as a game at CWS and moved on, but the contract signed with WKU called for a 2 for 1, and the 1 being at LP Field. I'm sure glad I didn't make the trip.

Morgan Newton was the most disappointing part of the game. Interestingly enough, he's probably the most high-touted player on the roster. Former 5-star, Elite 11 QB, he's been far from unimpressive his entire career. With that said, I remember another UK QB who started for a year and about half a season and was God-awful. Andre Woodson, through 18 games at UK, had 10 TD's and 7 INT's. A majority of those games were starts. He ended his career with 71 TD's and 18 INT's his final 2 years.

I don't think Newton has that same future ahead of him, but it's an interesting parallel. Kentucky has Central Michigan next, and with the way Louisville looked last night, this might just be their toughest game yet.

What LJ said was right too. If the offending team has a timeout left, they can choose to use it so there's no run off. Maybe WKU had a timeout left and chose to use it to keep the time on the clock?
