So can many other idiots. This country has freedom of speech and freedom of religion. It's one thing to sit there and think something is ridiculous, or to not agree with something, but to actually get so pissy about something that has 0 effect on your life is just asanine. That's just as bad as the hypocrisy that many extremely religious people spew.

Where do I say I want to hit someone and their parents over their head with a baseball bat because of the way they live their life? I may disagree with people's opinions, but you don't see me telling people that they way they live their life is wrong.

Who said you said that? And why does that matter? Your quote was...
Why care about something someone chooses to do when it has 0 effect on your life?
I'm fairly certain you've been critical of people/things on here. :p

Fairly certain I have been critical of sports and political opinions. Have I ever said that you being a Michigan fan makes me so upset that I want to physically harm you and your parents?

I don't think you get my point at all

It's also straight out of the playbook of "trying to stir shit up" to only go after one sentence of a larger statement.

This "entire" statement?
Why care about how someone raises their child?

Why care about something someone chooses to do when it has 0 effect on your life?
The way I read that, it starts out as referring to child rearing, then follows with a more general statement of caring what other people do. I also took into consideration the thread had more to do that just child rearing, so your second statement must have covered the rest. I must have misread, eh?

That's the only requirement to be a preacher.

30 years from now--married, 3 kids, megachurch somewhere in Texas, lucrative television ministry, caught with a male prostitute, claims he was only getting a massage...I can see it now...

You just refuse to see the valid point, as well as claiming I do something that I don't. Please show me that I have criticized people for the way they raise their children. Please show me where I have been upset over the way they choose to live their life? (job, school, religion, sexual preference, etc etc). Just because people may disagree with each others opinions while discussing policy or a football game, does not mean I give 2 shits about how that person chooses to live life. I think you are seriously confused.

Because Scarlet Buckeye likes to be the judge, jury and executioner for those he deems not worthwhile human beings.

Too many of you on here acting like you are better than others. Shame! I'd rather see a parent teach their child about religion and loving others and treating them with respect, then spending so much time pushing soccer, football, etc. down their throats that they don't know how to react later in life when tragedy hits their life, or something else.

Priorities are ALL out of whack!

Religious whackos don't know what to do when tragedy strikes either. They are so convinced that God will take care of it for them.

You can teach your children to love others and treat them with respect without bringing religion into it. Not saying those that teach their kids religion are wrong or anything but you don't have to be a religious person to be a good person (and vice versa).

justin - that's the problem. What is love? Where does love come from? Love is a gift from God. What good does it do you, or anyone else, to do good things without God? - it's in vain then. Even to define "good" and "respect" means that there has to be "bad" and "disrespect." Defined by whom?

Somewhere, a line of morality must be determined with a Source for that line.

You say helping an old lady with her groceries is good? Says who? Deep down inside, it may be scaring that old lady because she doesn't know who that stranger is. There are so many catch - 22's and honestly, not worth arguing over.

The bottom line is this....people need to stop badmouthing kids/parents/etc. for teaching them what they believe in. It's NONE of their business. If you want to teach your kid that there is NO God, that's your business. So, would these people on here who criticize everyone for everything please just respect others and their freedoms to live life the way they seem fit?

WebFire, I am convinced that there is a Creator and Sustainer that offers me comfort when I seek it. No one has the right to tell people otherwise. It's something we've experienced. You can't tell someone how they feel is wrong. That would be just as hypocritical as me telling you that what you feel is wrong.

Devil's Advocate - I was never in the band. I played football and swim, but I never compromised my faith to attend a practice or event. Sure, in football that meant I didn't get a lot of pt, but that was more because I wasn't very good at it. lol.

In swimming, I told the coach that I couldn't practice after 6 pm on Wednesdays due to a church commitment. He understood. It would have been the same as if another kid couldn't attend practice due to Scouts, etc.
