I'll rephrase. You guys are ranked in the preseason top 25 more times than you finish in the top 25. Apologies for the oversight. Maybe if you guys didn't rub in the offseason happenings of Ohio State I wouldn't be saying anything. Can't help but smile seeing ND lose at home. They are a solid team and will make a run for the Big East, but ND absolutely pissed this thing away. 3 red zone turnovers and missed 30 yard FG. It couldn't have gone any worse. 5 total turnovers WTF.

ok thoughts:

A lot of mistakes, clearly. But those are mistakes that can be somewhat easily corrected. This game reminds me a lot of the 2009 Navy game (where Clausen fumbled on the two-yard line going in for a touchdown, and Navy intercepted the bowl in the endzone after it bounced off Floyd's back, etc.), and I don't expect to see these mistakes repeated.

Some things:

Wood is a good back, with 148 yards of offense. He has supplanted Riddick for the #2 playmaker.

The DL is legitimate. Tough, tough guys there and I think that teams will have a tough time running at them. Even on the edges, Notre Dame played well against the stretch run.

Not a fan of the soft zone Diaco runs on third and long. I want to see it tightened up with safety help against Michigan.

Where was Smith? When he wasn't grabbing facemasks he was invisible. That is probably attributable to the fantastic play by the front seven.

Let me clarify: media will talk about what went wrong for ND today, the weather, etc. but USF will go sort of under the radar. They're a good team. ND SHOULD have beat them; but it's not a bad loss imo.

I could be wrong on this, but did any offensive skill guys get into the game other than Ragone? I don't remember seeing Toma, Daniels, Goodman, Welch, Koyack, Smith at all.

So will I admit to posting on a ND thread, as someone who openly doesn't like ND, after ND lays a massive egg in their place on opening day? Absolutely. You guys are absurd. Not everyone who posts on this thread likes ND. And not everyone is going to be apologetic after a loss. Get over it. Don't like it? Then don't say a negative thing about Ohio State on Ohio State threads. But guess what, you guys do, and I don't care, because it's part of fandom. So don't act like all of a sudden I'm this huge troll because I don't like ND and I find it funny you guys lost a game you had no business losing.
