I would bet they would put Shawshank in their top 5. Since about 90% of movie critics do.

I saw it on TV today, but was getting ready to go out to eat. I didn't even select the station as The Wife would have wanted to watch it again...maybe even I did too.

And you are?

I mean, I understand the character you e-relate to the most got beaten into paralysis by the guards after Andy got under their protection (and the one you really relate to the most got beat to death by a guard in the early minutes of the film), but still...movie kicks ass!

Watching Shawshank on TV is fucking dumb. It just doesn't do it justice if it's edited, and has commercials.

Which means it is the most overrated film ever, and I like the movie a lot. It is a great film but has its flaws but it appeals to the populist nature in people hence the love for it.

Best quote(s) is this, because it takes it in 2 different directions. I love it:

"Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
"Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane."
