If they do not get that....you are going to find out real quick exactly what team you thought you were watching. Sorry guys, I am not going to sugar coat it. This team has all the makings of 1994. How you do not see that is unbelievable to me. Talent out of the you know what and no leadership. NONE!
The 94' team came out in week one and ripped Alleghaney Academy 34-12?? The next week they ran into a very good Chaney Team. Do you remember that game and the direction the season went after that game?
Enough talk about State and playioffs. This team is doing what they are suppose to do in a weak schedule. They are athletic, experienced, and have a good coaching staff. Thank God for this staff actually. Will they hold up in an ugly situation. We'll see. I know you guys are saying, wow what do you want pride. I'll tell you what I want. I want to see a team out there. Not a bunch of talented individuals.
I see some similarities to the '94 team. I've been saying that since the summer. The team has no senior leadership. There are good kids on this team. But again, I don't see any of the seniors stepping up as of yet into leadership roles. One difference between the '94 team is the coaching staff for this team is a veteran staff. The '94 team had Soroka, Minnie, and a few younger guys with little or no coaching experience. The '94 team basically came apart after losing in week two to Chaney that season. They faced a few really good teams after that Chaney game and it was an absolute disaster of a season. In fact, the only game I saw them play together as a team was the game vs. JFK that year. This staff will do their best to keep these kids focused. Trust me, if we ran into Ursuline right now, they would mop the field with us. Campbell is getting better. But they must get a whole lot better by week 10. Campbell is playing a weak schedule. Consequently, the Red Devils can finish 7-3 or 8-2 and not make the playoffs. There is a chance that we may have to go undefeated to get a home playoff game. I really can't see Campbell losing to Liberty, Brookfield, Champion, Newton Falls, or Edgewood. But wins are definitely going to be needed at LaBrae, at Girard, and vs. Struthers. South Range could help us, provided they win out or come very close to doing so. Champion did win last night, as did Edgewood. . Brookfield won today. Mineral Ridge is a bad team that may win very few if any games at all.
