As bobcat4life mentioned, only one returning starter and he has a history of knee problems. I expect to current sophs to be take two positions and two current juniors to fill out the line. I expect them to be alright, not outstanding, but not bad either.champ01 wrote: how will the O line Be?
Yes, if he is still a RB. Cunningham is a BIG kid, as evidenced by the fact he plays def tackle. He may just get too big to stay in the backfield, or the new coach might decide the team is better off with him playing some where else.champ01 wrote: will the big running back be effective again?
I would say Cunnigham on offense, Batt on defense.champ01 wrote:Who's their best player returning? (on both sides of the ball)
champ01 wrote:how will the defense be? (Winkle down there usually has the play well.)
Defense should be ok. Few more players returning on this side of the ball. And there are some JV guys that I think will step up.
champ01 wrote:and who is there captains gonna be who will lead that team? (i think if the have some good leaders they can turn that team around with a good coach)
Batt is the only one I would say for sure, probably Jennings and Bankey also.
Your guess is as good as mine. Aungst might be one candidate from the current staff. I have another name in mind that I think is getting consideration. Other than that, I have no idea.champ01 wrote:Who will the coach be? (if you have any idea)

So far from what i have heard Bankey has said he will not play because of all of his knee injuries. However he might change his mind when it gets closer to the season but as of right now he is not playing

If bankey being not able to play that would kill an already thin o line. i heard a sophomore started last year some games as well? it may not be true. BUt do you know if any of the BG kids have any looks as of colleges or where they may continue their playing careers? if any of them have the ability to play at the next level? im just curious as i use to live in BG awhile back

I have heard the same thing about Bankey not playing next season. I didn't want to speculate since I have no idea if it is true or not.BGbobcat4life wrote: So far from what i have heard Bankey has said he will not play because of all of his knee injuries. The most important thing for me right now is finding out about A-W's o-line. I know last year green and Bridges were both jr's (the rb and slot). Both should be strong runners again this season but will they have a good line to block for them? If so they might be the top competitor with Southview right now IMO.

It appears as though AW took a big hit on the offensive line so I think they will have alot of first timers starting for them.

Well from what I hear I now belive Maumee has one of the toughest out-of-conference schedules in the nll. (even though they play waite and bowsher). Now I hear Maumee has dropped Woodward and added...Columbus Desales the D3 state runner up.

Great for Maumee. Is the agreement for two years?

Is BG done with the Toledo CC series. If so, what team will they pick up? Will the still have Napoleon and Fostoria on the schedule next year?

Yea I believe they wanted to schedule a catholic city team but couldn't get any of them to agree to a 1 year deal.

It will give them an opportunity to see where they are at as a team. Where as the previous shedule kept people guessing. I lwould like to see more NLL teams schedule outside of Toledo.

I would love to see Southview schedule Cincinnati Anderson for a two year home and away series. They could make it a Saturday game.

That would be a nice grab by Southview but from what I heard about their AD and scheduling it won't happen.

Scheduling Toledo St. Francis is a good move for Southview. Love to see a state power from Cleveland, Columbus or even Cincinnati (as I mentioned Anderson.....for obvious reasons) in week three.
I love Maumee playing Columbus St. Francis this coming year. Certainly a major transition from Woodward (no offense to Woodward.....I have great respect for their players and coaches and understand how difficult it is for them.....another thread on this perhaps?). Maumee will reap many rewards from this game. The local media will be all over this game. There will be great excitement and anticipation for the whole Maumee community (and NW Ohio) for this game. Even if Maumee loses the game they are still winners in many ways.
Back to Southview....I have spoken with the SV AD many times about scheduling. I understand his logic when it comes to SV's football schedule. He has a tough job as the SV AD and I think he does it very well, overall. He did schedule SFS and I do not think he would have done that five years ago. So maybe the week three power from one of the three C's is not out of the question.

SVCougar1978 why wouldn't he have scheduled them five years ago. I will have to agree though that was a good move on his part picking up St. Francis just hoping that next years outcome will be better.

rmolin73....in my opinion, the SV AD knows that as a public school Sylvania Southview is at the mercy of the ebb and flow of talent in each class that lives in the SV district. Private schools (SFS, CCHS and SJJ) do win more consistently. A public school is taking a risk making a multi-year agreement with a private school. But I do believe that the SV AD has seen SV win very consistently and is now willing to take that chance. Again, this is just my opinion. I cannot speak for the SV AD. And of course, we SV fans are all hoping for a win against SFS next year.
Coach Mayzes deserves a ton of credit for building a consistent winner at Southview. SV is now a state-champion and a state runner-up. Sylvania schools offer a great education. Now kids growing up in the SV district want to play football at SV instead of at the private schools.

Strangely, this schedule does show BG playing both Fostoria and Napoleon, but no game is listed for week 1.
