Eventually Gene Smith got rid of the paper review format

So you have proof he covered something up? Would you like to offer this proof to us? Until then, you're speaking out of your ass. Sorry, but true.

The last written review that Geiger gave Tressel said he was not satisfactory at reporting violations. jordo is correct that Smith never gave a written review of Tressel, even though every other coach at OSU got one.

They were all posted in another thread when his records were released. Jordo and karen are 100% correct

I wasn't accusing you of that, I merely asked if you had it. Stop getting your panties in a bunch.

Gotcha.

That still doesn't mean Tressel covered any violations up, which is the point I'm making.

I'm not saying he necessarily covered anything else up, just that there is a certain pattern of behavior with Tressel, and that goes back to his Youngstown State days.

Actually, if his performance review stated that he "needed improvement" on reporting violations, that in itself would suggest that he covered up violations. Probably minor violations, but those violations, his problems with the Tattoo stuff, and then his past at YSU suggest that he wasn't exactly squeaky clean

The review was "unsatisfactory" because Tressel didn't report things timely, not because he didn't report them at all.

Please enlighten me on what Tressel was found guilty of at Youngstown State.

I can assure you I know more of that situation than you'll ever know, so please, enlighten.

He was at the least guilty of poor judgement, given he asked a guy who turned out to be one of the biggest corporate criminals in U.S. history to find a job for his star quarterback.

You mean the same guy who employed 10+ of his other players legally?

He covered it up long enough for the statute of limitations to expire. Surely due to your extensive knowledge of the situation you know that, right?

So somehow the AD and President were found guilty, Tressel wasn't, and he covered something up? Surely the statute of limitations didn't expire on his AD or President, but it did on him? Nice try.

Yeah, if they'd just have given him, oh say, another four years, he'd eventually have reported the Tat 5.

I'm a huge fan of Tressel still. I think he definitely screwed up, but I wish we could have gone with the punishment (screw the media) and waited to see what the NCAA came up with. But I have to admit I wonder since he was covering for Pryor (and the tat 5) then who else did he cover for?

I was thinking that he might have covered for players, but Gene Smith is a definite possibility.

Yes. The same guy who was a known sleazeball and ended up being one of the biggest perpetrators of fraud in the history of the United States. Tressel thought it was a great idea for his players to be around this guy, going so far as to personally ask him if he could find a job for his star quarterback. He is, at the absolute best, an incredibly poor judge of character.

If you think every single bit of business Monus did was sleazy or illegal, you're sadly mistaken. Unfortunately, you only know what the media portrays. He did a lot of good business in Youngstown.
