Very disappointing loss....Looks as though the injuries have finally caught up to this team. They just don't have enough offensively. And i'm with Mantooth...CP is a very unreliable and inconsistent closer.

Perez is now 0-4 in non save situations.

Perez is an above average CLOSER. Terrible reliever, but above average closer. Not great, because to be great you have to overpower some people, and he just cant/doesnt do that. But I trust him a lot when we have a lead in the 9th. He has only blown 3/30 save chances. That is VERY good. But he does give up runs, so he isnt elite. But he also is at his best in 1 run games. Im not sure right now, but at one point (like a month ago) dating back to last year he had converted 25/26 1 run save chances. So when the pressure is REALLY on, he gets the job done.

But for all intents and purposes....dont bring him in unless we are winning.

How embarrassing would it be if Butt Wedge(haha) sweeps us and finishes off our season?

he reminds me of Joe Table...i do not trust him. Just a gut feeling...I guess we will never know since we wont make the playoffs.

I see where you are coming from. But there arent many in baseball who dont give their teams a scare in all honesty. Those with great closers make the playoffs. I mean, everyone is sucking off Jordan Walden (rookie for LAA) and Perez...IN SAVE SITUATIONS....has better numbers I think. Perez in his non-save situations has skewed a lot of peoples minds in his abilities imo.

I said earlier that the unofficial end of the season would come if Chicago passes us. Were on the Brink.

Thgis team does have a knack of coming back just about the time you think they are done. Need a sweep tomorrow. Period.

I'm disappointed in the collapse, however, I'm not too upset.

I was one of the very few who thought they'd compete THIS year in the division.. I was saying it as early as late last season. Many "experts" picked us to be one the WORST teams in baseball, period.

We have surpassed expectations and we have a young nucleus coming back next season... Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but a lot of people thought that last year.

I see a Cleveland Indians team who is, I believe, the 2nd youngest team in baseball? IF, and that is surely a big if, Dolan is serious about spending money to make this team better, then we should see some moves during the offseason/winter meetings to help this offense.

I know it won't be done, but ties need to be cut with Hafner. He's garbage and his #'s are below average for a DH making 10+ mill a year.

IMO, I'd make Carlos Santana the DH. He can also spot start at 1B and C when needed, so he's not completely useless when playing in a NL park and he's at least an average fielder at worst.

Lou Marson deserves a chance to play extended time behind the plate. Great defensive guy and throws out base runners at a good rate. He's shown flashes with the bat as well.

I'd move forward with Brantley, Carrera, Choo... Grady is gone, and so will be his salary. There really are no FA 1B that would be worth while for the Tribe to pursue... Guys like Prince will command way more money than we'll shell out and the rest are garbage. If we get a 1B, it may be through trade... I don' now if Lonnie could be an option to move to 1B and we go after a guy like Aramis Ramirez to play 3rd or if we even target an OF by trading off Choo or Carrera..

The point is, the offense needs revamped. You have a solid young core with Santana, Druby, Brantley, Kipnis, Carrera, and hopefully Chisenhall... But they need more around them...

I think the pitching is set. The bullpen is locked up as well as the starting pitching for another few years. Ubaldo needs to work on his mechanics, IMO. I think he'll be fine going into next year, but we'll see.

I think the season is over. 5.5 GB and Detroit plays a soft schedule.. They're like 13-3 against Tampa and Minny this season, so we can't expect much help right now.

Yeah, it was impressive that they were competitve until August, especially given all the injuries that they suffered through this year with Choo and Sizemore missing large chunks of the season. And lets be honest, its still not over yet, if they could go on a nice little run and detroit stumbled a little bit, there is still a chance they could make things interesting down the stretch.

Can't ever count on a Bullpen, its always a wildcard. When you think you have a good one, thats when you don't. Which is why you never give a relief pitcher more than a 2 year deal.

Glad you're optimistic about Ubaldo, but I think its misplaced. Rockies wouldn't give him up unless they knew something was wrong with him. lolfail on our FO for giving up the farm for him, we really fucked ourselfs moving forward. I would love to punch the FO people in the face for that idiotic maneuver. Still pisses me off. The signs of him falling apart have been prevalent, and the metrics have ever been showing regression before we traded for him.

Agree with this. When teams like the Yankees weren't willing to part with their top prospects, kind makes ya go "hmmmmm?"

I think he's been healthy so the physical thing is BS. The yankees couldn't offer what the tribe could, that's why he's in Cleveland

My first red flag was when he was under such a great contract for 3.5 more years (2.5 once traded though) and the Rockies were ACTIVELY trying to get rid of him. That doesnt add up for a small market team...AT ALL.

That said, I think he can really help this team to win a division title or 2 the next 2 years. Just needs to figure something out, and hopefully Belcher is the man for the job.

If Belcher cant help him, the only other person who possibly could is Mazzone(sp?) in Atlanta.
