No doubt, I think we're done. Still pissed about the trade....smh.

Laley23;870177 wrote:lol, that schedule isnt hard!

They play ONE team with a winning record (plus the Tribe). They end with a VERY favorable schedule of Oakland, KC, Baltimore....Jesus Christ we are toast. We will likely need a sweep at that point, and of course the games are in Detroit.

Clevelands schedule isnt tough either, Im not saying that....but we wont make up ground on the Tigers without beating them, cause outside the Rays, we dont have any favorable series where we can win and they can lose.

Exactly. We need the rays to sweep.

I still didn't like bringing in laporta to bat for marson. Laporta hit a shallow pop up that got fukingdummy thrown out at the plate.
Actually, a good move with a bad result. Marson is just horrible with RISP...batting something like .150. La Porta, despite perception, is actually fair...hitting about .280 with RISP. Obviously, you can't argue the result and hindsight is 20/20... I think a lot of us just expect LaPorta to be better than he is considering the trade that brought him here. I don't really hate him...I'm just disappointed that he isn't better.

We need a right handed stick really badly....and if this season tanks, it's because the Front office couldn't/wouldn't make a deal for one, instead of acquiring Fukidome (another lefty) and dealing for a starting pitcher that hasn't been very helpful at all.

We placed a claim on Rich Harden but couldn't get a deal done. He was then pulled off waivers by A's. Now Jim Thome is on waives. Would not be surprised to see the Tribe but in a claim with Hafner seemingly destined for the DL. Also, Zach McAllister's jersey was hanging in the clubhouse today which seems to indicate he'll start one of the double header games tomorrow.

Pronk officially to DL. Josh Judy called up to give the bullpen some much needed reinforcements.

the fragility of this team is mind boggling--maybe we should replace the strength and conditioning coach with a flexibility and conditioning coach...smh

BRF checking in to the "real" thread. Good job, like_that!

A little story: Today was the first day of school and BRF teaches a current events class. I was looking back at my journal for entries from the end of last school year. I found....May 19; Indians with best record in baseball. My, oh my.....so sad!

I wouldn't mind thome at all. It would get fans excited and maybe bring a spark to the team

That would be awesome. I don't harbor much ill will towards Thome for him leaving the Tribe, although I'm not sure how some tribe fans who had an issue with him leaving would welcome him back. Still, I just remember how exciting it was when the Tribe picked up Kenny Lofton for the stretch run in 2007.

I have mixed feelings about going after Thome. He was one of my favorite players back in the day. But, I hated how he lied to the fans and organization when it came time to re up with the Tribe. Would he help down the stretch? Probably some, but probably not enough. This team has so many holes right now, and they were really exposed this weekend. He would bring fans to the ballpark and create some excitement though.

This.

BRF remembers when The Rock was brought back. It was joyous! Of course, he didn't leave on his own free volition! BRF remembers booing Mickey Mantle. BRF regrets that today.

I'm in this camp. Not a Thome fan but Hafner's doing nothing (even when healthy) and the Tribe needs a power threat. He's likely going into the HOF as an Indian so they might as well bring him back to see if he can provide a spark and put some butts in the seats.

AND, we better get Thome, if he reaches our claim. I dont think the White Sox can use him or have a need at all for him....but I could see them putting in a claim to keep him from us. Id say the Tribe and Sox are the only 2 teams who even make a bit of sense. Us cause we need a DH and he is a former player. Sox cause they are a half game behind us and dont want us to succeed.
