Worth it?

I think he's a great receiver but that's a bad contract. The only plus side is he's only 28, but is really going to be playing at a high level when he's 32-33?

That's ridiculous money for the second best receiver in the NFL.

They had to pay him. The biggest thing he had going for him is that he's a good guy and does a lot for the local community.

If he's not worth it when he's 32-33 you cut him. that's how all these nfl contracts work.

I think him and Andre Johnson and in a league of their own with it comes to NFL receivers. Does he deserve that money? No but he is a top 2 receiver in the league

This had to piss off the Titans a little bit when this came out. Makes the Johnson negotiations that much harder.

Not sure I'm following? They play two completely different positions.

Johnson said that he doesnt want to be one of the highest paid RB's, he wants to be one of the highest paid PLAYER in the NFL. So, this could up the ante a bit.

He is a stud.....but man...I think only th emost elite QB's are worth that much jack.

They are the Arizona Cardinals. Probably only a notch above Cincy. Overpaying for players is just something they have to do

Gotcha. Wasn't aware of the "highest paid players" comment.

Actually, to me this is quite surprising. AZ ownership are well known cheapskates.

Johnson reportedly said, he wants to be the highest payed "playmaker."

Overpaying is something they have to do, but they rarely do it. So, yeah you are correct.

My point was that for anybody to go there, they are going to need more money. Because all things equal, the Cardinals have been Bengal-esque for sometime.

Some teams in all sports gotta overpay some guys to keep them, Arizonia to be one of them. That is about the only thing that isnt great about the salary cap. In a sport like baseball, a lesser team can overpay a guy to play there and it doesnt screw with their salary, they can still pay other guys if they wanna open up the checkbooks. In the NFL...you overpay and man oh man that can screw ya big time.

WIth that being said.....many times in baseball tho a team will overpay and it DOES screw them because that is less money they spend on other guys...but that is their own choice and not because of some cap.

Fitz is amazing, but this contract....wow. Unless.......and I havent seen the details....they were way UNDER the cap for this season and gave him a huge lump sum up front.
