How do people just switch every year? DirecTV locks you into a 2 year deal. Someones lying.

Cable companies are the easiest people to bargain with. The guys I know either say ok, we won't switch and don't havemto get the contract or say they will switch and pay the 2 years if they get ST for free for both years.

Cable companies might be, but DirecTV is not. I was a customer for 4 years....then my contract was up, I told them I would re-up if they matched Dish Network...they wouldn't budge.

I live in the Steelers' market and I still order Sunday Ticket just because I love to watch all of the other NFL games too. I'll admit that it is pricey but I got a pretty nice deal on ST this year so I'm pretty happy.

Well, in college I said Iw as happy with my cable, but wanted ST. They said we have a 2 year contract. I said, Ill switch and sign the 2 year contract for free HBO, ShowTime and ST. They said no. I said, well thanks anyway and hung up. I got a call 2 hours later and they were willing to give ShowTime and ST but not HBO, so I said thanks anyway and they threw it in. I also got out of my contract after a year by money in escrow because of bad service (they wouldnt budge on a discount for me not having cable for 2 weeks). I said Id pay what was in my escrow account if they cancelled my contract immediately. They agreed.

Did the same thing the next year with a new address, but this time didnt cancel after a year and had it for JR and SR year.

All you have to do is realize accounts are THE SINGLE most important thing to them, so they can show advertisers who has more subscribers. They dont care nearly as much about what an individual is paying, so long as they are paying something.

I root for an out of market team. Colts fan in Toledo. My wife calls herself a fan but she really just like Peyton Manning. If i were to go to the bar 16 times a season to watch the out of market games, I could spend $25 a week and break even at 400. I have a hard time drinking for 3 hours and not spending over $25. Plus if the wifey comes, we are looking at $50 plus with food and drinks.

Also, I enjoy betting on NFL games. Now I can watch any game I want and am not subjected to watching the Browns and Lions every week. To me, 400 seems like a steal.

You also have to factor in prime time games and other games that will play in your area due to a lack of local teams playing, especially with a team like the Colts. The Jets played 7 or 8 games during the regular season last year that I could have watched in my living room without ST. They will also likely have the same number of games in my market this year as well.

Since you like watching the other games it's not as bad for you. I couldn't care less about a Jags/Raiders or Texans/Lions matchup so at full price it just isn't worth it to me.

Texans/Lions could be a Super Bowl preview.

It's actually not a matchup that's even happening this year. So no, it couldn't be.
