I was always under the impression that AF was geared towards your 18-22 year old frat boy types and Hollister the younger high school versions.

They just didn't want an obnoxious 30 year old wearing their ridiculous clothing on national tv every week. The season is already shot anyway.

I think it was a joke...a joke that backfired (referring to the decrease in stock price).
If it wasnt AnF I would agree but I know people who work there and just this month they sent out an office memo telling their employees they couldnt wear black b/c it was depressing and to formal. It also had to have a reminder that they need to wear bras to work.

yet in their advertisements guys are shirtless and girls are barely wearing anything.

I've only seen stocks react to a marketing campaign very, very....very....rarely. And even then, only when it's a ginormous campaign that analysts are disappointed in or feels misses the mark. The market has been getting hammered, and I don't know if there was some other AF specific news, but I would say probably just coincidence as far as the timing. Otherwise you'd be telling me that the market thinks either The Situation is a prime endorsement, or that him wearing AF somehow actually hurts the brand.
