Auburn and Alabama have not been in trouble, at least yet. And LSU can't really count. A player and coach screwed up, they reported, and fired the coach and sent the kid packing. Hardly compares.

Same here. I couldn't imagine anything like this coming out about Ohio State. How close could they get to the death penalty without actually doing it?

It certainly is gonna be ugly, it's gonna be even uglier before all is said and done. However, this could be a blessing in disguise for the overall state of the NCAA. This could be the rock that finally shatters the window. Maybe - maybe - something good can come out of this. At some point, the NCAA has to look at all the turmoil that's gone on this past decade (in college football alone) and say to themselves "Wow, we are really starting to look bad". The NCAA can't play cop, investigator, judge, and jury all at once. What sticks out the most to me, is the fact that the AD for Miami was part of the committee that told USC's AD that their "I didn't know" excuse wasn't going to fly. He even told them it was their job to know. Now that this has come out, his quote made it sound an awful lot like he was leaning towards the "Yeah I was the AD, but I had no idea this was going on" excuse. I'm sure the NCAA doesn't need anymore reasons to hammer Miami, but I think the fact that he was the AD at the time - then hammered USC over one player - isn't going to bode well with the NCAA. Even if only a fraction of this is true, it'd still probably going to warrant the death penalty. You can't tell me that a scandal of this magnitude went unnoticed.

Also, nothing I've read has named any football coaches. I know the basketball coach was talked about, but I don't think recall any football coaches. I could've missed it? Anyone else know of any football coaches?

I sincerely feel bad for Miami fans. They've not had a lot to cheer about as of late and now this? I mean, all that drama and it didn't really get the TEAM anywhere. At least at OSU, we got a Sugar Bowl victory out of it. I know that Ohio State didn't do anything even remotely close to what's been going on down at Miami, but while us non-'Cane fans aren't surprised this came out - I'm sure that they are. Jim Kelly was on Mike and Mike this morning, and just listening to him talk you could tell that he was pretty tore up about all of this. The thought is that when Butch Davis got to Miami, all this "Uncle Luke" crap disappeared. I guess it's easier to cover up when A) it's a private school and B) the seemingly entire Athletic Department knew about this.

As for the death penalty, I do not think Miami is going to get it but they might get as close as you can get to it. There is some very shocking stuff(namely the abortion being paid for allegedly) but it is nothing compared to what happened at SMU.

Sure looks like their old AD (and Ohio AD right before that) Kirby Hocutt may have seen the writing on the wall, heading to TTU to become AD over the summer. Pete Carroll style.

Although, Hocutt is still in the NCAA so he actually has to talk.

Clint Hurtt, Jeff Stoutland, and Aubrey Hill were the football coaches. HC Frank Haith, Jake Morton, and Jorge Fernandez from the basketball staff. There was another football assistant that Shaprio wouldn't answer questions about him and there were a few equipment guys too.

Thanks! Interesting that none of the head coaches "knew" about this. There's just no way to sugar coat it, Miami is screwed.

Huh? He blatantly lied and said the SEC was clean unlike the rest.

Another thing I thought was funny was that he said they didn't pay recruits to come to Miami because they didn't have the money and they couldn't compete with the large public schools in the SEC that had money. Not that its any surprise, just thought it was interesting.

He bashes and praises as is necessary. When he does show bias he fully admits to it usually due to where grew up. The mouth breathing fanatics don't want to hear honesty, though. They want national hosts to be like the local schmucks. I enjoy his show.

This is the same guy that said that people living and Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown, etc who were unemployed "brought it on themselves" for living in those areas. Nevadabuck on an OSU board claimed to know him personally and said he loves OSU but also knows they move the needle so he goes out of his way to stir the base...the second part screams bayless
